Can there be a gap between both monitors to place a webcam?

Yes, there can be a gap between both monitors to place a webcam.

Can I fit the lower monitor such that it almost touches the table ?

yes, you can. i have a 23.8in monitor on the lower part & it sits about 5in from the top of my desk - and that’s not the lowest it’ll go. hope this helps!!

Can this mount hold a single 50 inch tv that weighs around 22 lbs?

Not safely. I attempted a smaller tv and it couldnt safely support the weight. The stand will lean forward. It is only meant to hold standard size pc monitors.

Have you tried mounting this to a glass topped desk? I have standing desk with a glass top and I'm concerned the C-clamp will crack the glass.

I wouldn't use this with a glass top, tighten it down will most likely crack it. This company does make a free standing option. https://www.amazon.com/Dual-Monitor-Stand-Free-Standing-Adjustable/dp/B082845XM8/ref=psdc_281062_t1_B09KLDQY1N
