Perfect for the Job.
You read good reviews on a product but for some reason, once trying to install it, your circumstances always seem to be different and the result is disappointment. I was ready for all this once again with this door phone as it is going to be installed as a replacement for our broken electric gate-opening system. The distance from the outside stone wall of the gate, which is not in-line with the phone (also behind a half metre thick house stone wall) is 50 metres. Could it possibly work and save me the time and expense of digging up the cable to the old system or installing a new one? Yes, it does work and very well at that. The only issue is the sound quality isn't brilliant but it's clear enough. After installing the speaker unit, I covered the areas where it joins the wall with clear silicon and this seems to be effective in stopping water getting in. The speaker unit seems to have the ability to use stepped-down mains power but there is no obvious explanation how to do that so batteries it is. I'll add to this review after a couple of months but for now, very pleased. Note: The unit can't send a signal to open the gate - it is just an intercom -however, we have a remote opener mounted next to the phone and that works fine. Best piece of kit I've purchased in a long time. Update: Four months on, the unit still does the job. The sound quality isn't brilliant as we keep getting echo feedback but it works. The house phone is currently beeping 4 times, once a day. There is nothing about this in the instructions but I'm guessing it's a battery warning for the outside unit. I'll update this further when I'm sure.

Effective wireless door 'phone
This is a very good product. I bought it so that visitors to our house in Greece can call from the gate and gain entry. It was very easy to set up, and works well from the gate to the inside of our house (30 metres approx). I did wonder how weatherproof it would be, but it has survived some amazing storms, and is still working well. If it survives the weather here, it should work anywhere. The only slight problem is that the sound between the caller unit and the indoor telephone echoes a bit. However, it is quite useable. The other thing I noticed is that it does not appear to have the facility to change channels, which might be a problem if there was more than one of these units within wireless range.

It lasted 9 years outside in all weathers.
It worked straight away, screwed to the metal post on our locked driveway gates it sat there suffering all weathers without issue. No bother for 9 years, bought in 2016, it was still working fine but some ham fisted bod managed to break the push button so its time was up. In all that time had to change the transmitter batteries twice, quite amazing how long Amazon's own AA batteries lasted. Have replaced with another identical model. In theory it would have been possible to have bought the cheaper wired model and just swapped the switch over, but no complaints 9 years is good going. Its a little bit fiddly fitting it but once in place there's no faffing about getting it to link like some cheap wireless doorbell (been there done that, never again), soon as you fit the batteries in the outside box and plug the phone into the mains it works straight away. Take a tip, if its going outside in all weathers apply a little grease to the screw that holds the front cover in place, you might not need to open it again for 3 years for new batteries. I'd give it 10 stars if that were possible.

Obviously I could not recommend this product
Product arrived safely and on time. Installation was simple and it worked as well as described. However just after the 30 day return period expired the unit failed to work and as I cannot find a contact number for the supplier, we now have paid for a product that worked for only about 3 weeks. Obviously I could not recommend this product.

Ideal for anybody who's front door are some distance away and need to talk to the caller
Easy to install, 4 batteries in the push button caller box, inside handset connects to mains via adapter. The call sound is very loud, even when turned down, the clarity of speech is reasonable. The user manual isn't much use as regards how to operate the device etc, even when I contacted the importer, the staff member knew the unit has its limitations but seemed unable/unwilling to pass on any useful comments to the (Chinese) manufacturer. The inside unit has space for batteries, these would only come into use in the event of a power cut, the importer said that the batteries for the outside unit should last 6-12 months, but said that the batteries for the inside unit have a very short life as they draw too much current. Overall, not a bad device, but batteries are its limitations

Mercury Wireless Door Entry Phone System 2.4GHz
A very useful intercom, looks very good, internal unit easy to assemble and fit, outdoor unit needs fixing to a wall or door frame, housing goes first, then the radio unit is fitted, batteries installed then assembled and screwed together, sound quality is acceptable, not Hi-Fi, at least the internal unit can be carried to any room as it has its own batteries, for permanent installation the mains unit is required.

Works very well.
It fulfills its purpose, which was to stop people trying to manually open our electric gates. (The signs didn't work!) So it was either try to bring in a law that delivery drivers should have a mandatory minimum standard of written English or buy a door phone. It is quite flimsy and looks a tad old fashioned but seems to work well. They even have door buzzers in Eastern Europe so at least, even they know what it is there for. I put an arrow next to the button as a precaution.

Sound as a bell
We are delighted with this product as it works flawlessly even after a severe rainstorm. It makes a real difference to be able to check who callers are without having to go outside to the gates of our home. I am hopeful that the weatherproofing will continue to prevent the ingress of rain etc.. I can recommend this product without reservation. I am pleased to say that despite Arctic weather last year and severe storms this year, this device is still working perfectly. I have only just had to replace the batteries. Nearly 18 months on 4 AA batteries? Not bad I think. I still highly recommend this item. *Update Well four years on it still soldiers on despite being regularly hammered by severe gales and freezing weather. We also live right on the seashore and the salt air can have a devastating effect on all manner of machinery but this thing doesn't seem to be troubled.
