Excellent quality and works well
"Rico" is a renowned brand for accessories to woodwind instruments including the clarinet and saxophones. I play the saxophone and have used Rico reeds. a Rico reed holder, and a Rico neck support. They have all proved to be excellent quality, so I had no hesitation in ordering the Rico Cork Grease. It arrived as a lipstick style pack, so you just pull off the lid and twist the base to access the cork grease. There were no instructions, but this is a generic product which is used to lubricate the cork on your instrument to allow the mouthpiece to be positioned easily and to maintain the airtight seal. Having it as a lipstick helps to apply it directly where it is needed, and you can smear it where necessary with your finger. The cork grease is clear in appearance and practically odourless. It has a firm texture but is softens when it is smeared on the cork, especially if you use your fingers. You only need to use a very small amount, just enough to keep the cork lubricated. I find that applying it once or twice a week is sufficient, but this will depend on your requirements.I've used other brands and honestly can't tell the difference between any of them, so far, but I'm reassured by the Rico brand and I like the lipstick dispenser so recommend it.

Small cork grease
Purchased this cork grease for my daughter's clarinet. It is used to grease the cork to ease assembly of her clarinet and also to maintain the cork. I've bought this item to replace a now empty tube that she procured when taking up her instrument, so I'm aware that it works as expected and pleased with the product. This item is pretty cheap and from experience does the same job as some of the more expensive brands. The item is the same size as a tube of lip balm and works on the same principle of winding it up and down. The lid keeps it from drying out and the small size means it's easy to pack in the instrument case. Very easy to use too: you smear it onto the cork as you would lipstick and then you can use your finger to spread it a little into all the areas - very simple to use. It contains 6.0ml of grease which is a mixture of paraffin, lanolin oil, castor oil and some other ingredients.
