First: I've been doing faux finishes for over 30 years, but I needed to do this project in a rush, so I decided to try this kit instead of hand-picking my own paints, colors, tools, etc. In the past I have used other kits, as well. Second: I got NOTHING for this review. No freebies, no discounts. So trust me when I tell you that this is the best kit I've ever seen. The product quality is top notch and it's FAR less expensive than if I acquired my own materials. Additionally, the instructions are excellent. If you follow them, you'll get very good results. But if you add one more step, you'll get excellent ones. You see, faux finishes need at least one base color, and an additional 3 colors. However, in my opinion they're more realistic if there are 4-5 colors. The picture showing how it looks following instructions reveals a good paint job. However, it's not fully plausible. For one thing, the light colored paint reduces the realism. However, if you mix the remaining paint from two darker colors (to your taste) you can get a paler chocolate. Go over the project again with the paler chocolate, applying less than the others. THEN look for any patterns and go back over the project, applying the original chocolate or touches of black where needed, in order to break up patterns. A couple other tips: 1. Avoid smearing the paint, as their example picture on the cover of the box shows they did. Granite doesn't have smears. If you DO get a smear, blot other colors over the smear to conceal it. 2. In the FIRST final gloss stage, remove the painter's tape BEFORE the hour is up. I removed it about 45 minutes in. Then tape it off AGAIN before the second coat of gloss. 3. Be aware that if you're taping over very old paint, you may need to fix that later.

This is so easy to use and looks great! I used this on our countertops at church and people thought they were new countertops. Some people have ordered to do their's at home.

3 day, wait for putting something light on top of it, and then 14 days for the acrylic to set before putting anything heavy on it

I have used this TWICE! If you need a cheap way to make your countertops look amazing THIS IS IT! I have pictures of before and after and you can see that I used it before. The before I used about 4 years ago. And I did the black marble recently. This stuff is amazing and it has transformed my kitchen TWICE! It is very easy to use and I was able to complete it with two small kids. It took me a couple of days and a lot of patience but it got done and looks amazing! And you get amazing looking counter tops with minimal cost! I do have a tip for the black marble. I wasn’t confident in my first attempt at it but I trialed it and it turned out good! 1. Apply the base coat (black). Dry 2. Sponge white and brown marble 3. Sponge black marble (I applied the 3 while wet then dried) Dry 4. Apply top coat x2. Let first coat dry then do another second I have picture of the steps you can check them out.
