Good
Looks great & good small size grains for saltwater tank, but boy does it need a lot of rinsing. I mustve used over 100 gallons & it still clouded up my tank so bad that i had to water change the next day as it was not settling

Elevates ph!
I love this sand, it looks great and cleaning it was minimal before adding to tank. I have a 50 gallon acrylic tank that is heavily planted. My fish stock is more of a community tank style. That being said I strive to keep a neutral ph level. I couldn’t get my ph level below 8.0 no matter how hard I tried. Come to find out this sand raises ph levels. I had to completely empty my tank and start over after removing the sand. Entirely my fault, and as I stated I really love the look of this sand and I am bummed I can’t use it. Great for fish that require higher ph levels

Great product for excellent price.
I bought this sand to start up a cichlid tank. I have a 46 gallon bow front aqaurium and this was plenty of sand to have a solid 1.5" on the bottom. The picture can be a little deciving, because there really are no large pebble looking pieces, as shown in the picture. The best comparisson I can come up with is sand from the beach on the east coast of Florida. Make sure you rinse this at least 2-3 times, and the water will be very cloudy and will nut run clear. Dont worry though - it wouldnt matter how many times you rinsed it, you will never get the water to run clear. I priced the same sand from my local fish store, and they wanted almost $25.00 more than what I bought it off of here for. And with free shipping, how can you go wrong? :)

Don't have to worry about problems you can get with live sand
After many years of reefing, the last bag of live sand I bought, brought Dinoflagellates with it. It's been a couple months now and haven't knocked it out yet. This is nice sand without some of the headaches of live sand

A little piece of the ocean in your home
Great look of realism for a tank. Recommended for a saltwater setup, however, I did thoroughly clean this and use it in a freshwater tank. Have had no issues, fish are getting huge and are very healthy (we are on the third set of "expansion" from the cichlids). One star removed due to the quantity of fine silt that is in the reef sand. I rinsed and rinsed and rinsed (did I mention that I rinsed this stuff) to ensure that there were only trace amounts of salts (which is actually healthy for freshwater fish, just not too much), but the silt is still there. As you do your water changes, using those to grab the silt is good, but it takes months to get it all out. I would recommend a DE type filter or something when establishing the tank and stir up all the silt, to remove as much as possible. Once it is out, the tank looks great and stays very clear, but patience is required.

Great value sand
For the price and how much you get, this is a pretty solid deal. I'm fairly happy with it! Was definitely a little dusty so I do recommend rinsing it first before putting in the tank.

Coarse Bright White Granules
I had read some reviews stating that it was difficult for the tank to clear up after addition of the sand, but I pre-washed mine over the coarse of a few days. I ultimately added 80 lbs to my 60 gallon tank which I plant to add cichlids. I think this may be a bit much and could have done a satisfactory job with 60 to 70 lbs, but it still looks nice. Water cleared up 95% clear in 24 hours. I'll level the substrate to my liking and should be left with a 3" depth across the bottom of my tank. Granules are about 1mm to 3mm in diameter. So far looks good.

4 my 220g sps reef
This stuff is legit. I did spend quite a but of time cleaning it. But it was easy. I got a rubbermaid tub, filled with water, aggitated, and poured out dirty water. Did that 5 times per bag and tank was clear the next day. 1mm granules and deff great substrate. I am actually gonna order another 3 bags

Sand looks good. I needed to rinse it off quite a lot. Rinsed with RO/DI water on final rinse.
