A fun game - Don't worry about beating Holmes
This is a really enjoyable game (I have only played two-player). It's full of atmosphere and you really feel like you're following a proper Sherlock Holmes story (and there are 10 stories in the base game, each lasting a good hour or two depending on how much you want to investigate).he best advice I can give is just forget about beating Sherlock and enjoy the game. Don't worry about following too many leads (you will be penalised for following more than Holmes) because after playing through two cases already I can say that the Sherlock in this game has retrocognition abilities very much on par with the one in the novels. We got way more satisfaction from being able to answer some of the questions at the end of each game, half of which are like side-plot, but really flesh out the story.Worth a buy, especially if you are a total newcomer to this style of game, as I am.

Enormous fun!
Once you get the hang of game play, there’s hours of the most enormous fun to be had if you enjoy a game that’s based on logic and reasoning. It’s a collaborative game rather than competitive, which makes it perfect for a family get together. Everyone gets to play along, and everyone gets to win.

Enjoying it so far!
While there is quite a bit of reading to do, it's an interesting read and at least you don't have to read over the same stuff a bunch of times so it's more a question of prioritising leads and keeping focus on what is important to investigate. I don't think the single play-through is an issue per se. At 10 cases, it's cheaper than a pint per game so well worth the relative time it takes to finish it and once you're done, I think it makes an excellent gift/share for someone else to try their hand and compare how far off you all are from holmes' deductions.

Super fun
Really really good game! It can provide hours of fun. The concept is great, the investigations can be hard, it is important to record the details while progressing. Perfect for two people but I can see the appealing with a bigger group as well.

Great fun
We've only played the first case, but we had so much fun. The open-ended nature of it is a bit confusing at first, but once you get going it's brilliant. Just having a map and a directory and leaving you to make decisions on where to go to follow leads means you can find yourself pursuing enquiries that are red herrings and missing things that could be important. But that is the fun, you are making your own choices. The scoring almost is an afterthought, because you won't solve it quicker than Sherlock, but honestly, who cares when you're having this much fun!

Great to have a game were everyone playing is working ...
Great to have a game were everyone playing is working together. Not a quick game but great fun. Scoring system is a bit odd. But as with all games, you can adapt the rules to suit. When you think your done, can you answer the questions about the case? If you’re into “points”, the few clues you use the better. Case 1 is the learning curve.

My favourite purchase in a long time
Blown away by this game. Didn't know what to expect, bought it hoping it was going to be half decent. So impressed, it's so original, beautifully presented. The story telling is spot on, just difficult enough to make it a challenge, but not so hard that you have no way of solving the mystery. Not one for the kids and no replay ability. For £30, its a must have. Seriously, buy it and get next day delivery.

The first adventure is incredible, and they go steadily downhill from their.
In this game you solve 10 mysteries. Each one takes a long evening or so. The first one is incredibly fun, with countless open-ended possibilities for exploration. It also allows you to test your theories by saying "well if this theory of who did it is right then we should go to location X to check..." and then being told straightforwardly if you are right or not by the text you get at X.All of the others are far, far weaker. You will have a theory you are 90% sure of, you will stumble in circles for hours looking for the "smoking gun" that proves your theory. Then give up and go to the solution: where the "model solution" reached the same conclusion you were only 90% sure off based on far shakier and less convincing evidence. In other words the game just wants you to make the same guess they did. In multiple cases the game's guess is not even the most plausible (in my opinion) and alternative theories actually fit the entirety of the available evidence better.
