Beautiful book that is not quite right
I am afraid this book does not get the rating it should. It is neither a coffee table book, nor a maths book, nor a colouring book....and it really fails on all three counts and especially as a mix of all three. It is the first Bellos book to disappoint. It is beautifully and tightly bound, with an elegant soft cover. However the binding is too tight and the gutters too narrow and it does not lie flat. The illustrations are excellent and would present a great variety of difficulties ~ from easy to difficult ~ for the colourists. The paper is of good quality. The maths is little more than a caption for the relevant colouring page ~ opposite it. But it is too sketchy to stimulate mathematical interest (as Bellos does so well elsewhere). My requirement for a colouring book is to be bound in notepad style with easily removable pages. Colouring in this book would spoil it.My suggestion would be a full page or two of layman-appreciable maths to accompany each illustration, and possibly a few technical tips on the diagram construction. Then a separate A4 book with the same diagrams to the same size, with the maths text printed below ~ so that it remains with the illustration when it is removed and framed.Another addition would be to repeat some pages so that different aspects of the pattern could be emphasised. Maybe a word or two to point the eye towards unsuspecting patterns would not go amiss.I look forward to a second edition or two that might rectify these faults - then it, they, would get five stars straight away.

Maths is stunning this book illustrates that
This book as absolutely amazing on the right side of each couple of pages, you have very beautiful patterns kids can colour in, on the left you have a maths break-down of how the patterns where generated in the first place, a beautiful book that will keep rewarding the child or adult every time they look at it.

A good colouring book with educational slant
A really good book for introducing 'number concepts' without it being seen as such.

Fun colouring book for the mathematically minded.
Looks just what I wanted - a Christmas present for a scientist, and a bit of fun.

Meditations in Mathematics - This is more than just a colouring book!
This is not just another mindless colouring book, this is a glimpse into the beauty and creativity behind mathematics. As a mathematics teacher I can't wait to start using it with my pupils.
