The hat only protects you from the enemy finding you. To complete the operator status and to become bullet-proof, you must purchase the flag patch. Q: What are the exact dimensions of the front velcro panel? Some flag patches are 2" x 3", while others are closer to 2" x 3.25" or 3.5".

It's hit or miss. I have the multicam hat and the Velcro is 2x3 and fits my patch perfectly. But if you take a look at the photo I uploaded of my tan one, the Velcro panel is larger than my patch with about a quarter inch extra on both ends. It's kind of annoying, but I really like how the hats fit - both fit the same - so I got over it.
