I'm 62 and I've suffered with a fungal scalp condition all of my life. I've had had all the medicated shampoos going, so many things off the gp. They all had pros and cons. The only thing that really worked, smelt great, was affordeable and was available over the counter was the Brown T Gel. When I heard they'd now discontinued it I was in despair. I gave the replacement a go and I've wrote to Neutrogena to let them know that NO it does not work. But I doubt they're going to change their decision because of my lack of business. I then scoured amazon for a reolacement product on subscribe and save instead of my beloved T gel and came across this shampoo. Its a couple of pounds more expensive than TGel. Not as thick , so you use more to lather up your hair. But this is compensated by the fact that its a larger bottle so works out over time about the same. The smell is Not Good at all. I thought it smelt like BBQ sauce, hubby said my hair smelt like a bonfire. But to me the most important thing was " Does it work". And for me its an overiding success. The intense itchiness has gone the sores on my scalp have gone. I use conditioner once a week after shampooing to stop my hair from drying out. It doesn't give me that just been washed freshness that I got from Tgel but I can cope with that, and the smell from the reelief on my scalp. I haven't looked at the ingredients. I don't know whether it claims to be a miracle worker. I just know, that when everything on the market has failed ,this one hasn't and hopefully won't be discontinued like a lot of things lately. If like a lot of us regulars who relied on TGel, give this a go. For a tenner a bottle it may work for you. Its now added to my subscribe and save list.

I suffer from scalp psoriasis and have managed it well before with the leading tar shampoo brand, however the price was the same as this product but for 150ml Vs this 500ml, it was a no brainer in terms of value for money. The shampoo obviously does have a strong tar smell to it. The closest smell I can describe this to is the smell of fire/smoke. The smell isn't unbearable but you need to be prepared that it's not a typical fruity shampoo smell. The product does lather up but not as much as mainstream shampoo. That said it does leave my hair (very short) nice and clean and doesn't leave it feeling to dry as long as it's rinsed off well. (Leave it in your hair/scalp 5 minutes before rinsing). For men I would recommend a good conditioner after use or some moisturiser if your hair is shaved like mine. It has certainly helped with my scalp psoriasis and have reduced the dryness and redness of the troublesome areas. Obviously the results and effectiveness will vary from user to user depending on your desired result but for a modest price for a large bottle, I would happily recommend that you try it.

... you were the best. Purchased this on the rebound, determined neither to buy Neutrogena's new formulation or pay for expensive coal tar alternatives. I've just bought another two bottles, which says something. It works: not, I think, as long lasting as Neutrogena but definitely effective. I don't wash my hair every day and (very) subjectively I would say the itchiness returns a day earlier. It does smell very strongly out of the bottle - enough for Milva to package each bottle with a 'SCENT NOTICE' and it's not the same - or as nice - as coal tar. After washing and rinsing you may catch a whiff in any backdraft, as if you had stood too near a bonfire, but it seems pretty mild to me. Less expensive per ml than Neutrogena and lasts me a long time.

Slightly smokier smell than some shampoos similar but I like it and it does as it says making my head and hair feel good...this is therefore a repeat buy

This works just as well as the old brown T-Gel formula (which was discontinued for some unknown reason). I’d been looking for a replacement that actually works because the ‘alternative’ product suggested by Neutrogena as being the same, didn’t. and after using the T gel for over 20 years, I was struggling to find a product that worked. I stumbled across this and was sceptical so only bought the small sized bottle. But I’m totally sold on it now. And really please I found it. Re, the smell - I couldn’t quite work out how something could be described as smelling like a bonfire AND bbq sauce. But I get it now! That’s exactly what it is! People complain about the smell but to be honest, for something that works and that doesn’t break the bank, I’ll put up with it. Better that than the awful seborrheic dermatitis. And it’s not really that objectionable once you get used to it. If you’re looking for a product that works, particularly as a replacement to the t-gel, this is a really good option. With conditioner after my hair felt clean, soft and manageable. A great find.

Stinks, I smell like I have been fighting a forest fire the last week, it does seem ok for scalp though.

Absolutely amazing stuff, after t-gel got discontinued IV tried so much and then stumbled across this and read the reviews and thought what can a strong smell out weigh the benefits from what other have said in their reviews! I actually like the smell of the shampoo 🧴 my scalp is no longer itchy and flaky after two uses, I definitely recommend this product and it's been added to my wishlist so I can purchase again in the future ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Like many with Seborrheic dermatitis I was shocked and taken by surprise at the decision by Neutrogena to stop making / selling our specialist T-Gel. The mission to find a good quality and affordable tar shampoo replacement lead me to this product. Naturally after nearly two decades using the same shampoo to keep the dreaded itching etc at bay there was a major apprehension at using something else. But it has all worked out ok... Because (drum roll) this works just fine (for me at least). So cutting to the important things: Pros: - It works just about as well as T-Gel, with no itching or scalp dry skin that I can notice. - It doesn't smell anything like as bad as some people are saying (although the ladies may not be as keen on the smell as men). Cons: - It does smell a reasonable bit of bonfire/burning wood, but it's really not terrible. Perhaps 40% pine and 60% bonfire. But it is NOT foul smelling, and I am becoming quite ok with it. - It doesn't lather up as well as T-Gel, so I think that even the large 500ml bottle won't last as long as a 250ml T-Gel bottle. It's a bit thinner and runnier compared to T-Gel. So get an Amazon subscription up and running to save yourself some money.

Ho provato diversi prodotti in passato, ma questo shampoo Milva è stato l'unico in grado di risolvere concretamente i miei problemi di dermatite seborroica e forfora. Dopo circa due settimane di utilizzo costante, la situazione del cuoio capelluto è migliorata radicalmente: l'irritazione e la forfora sono completamente scomparse. Risultati visibili e concreti in pochissimo tempo. Consigliatissimo a chiunque stia cercando una soluzione efficace!

I really like the shampoo but delivery time is long. I wish they would stock with Amazon FBA so I could get quicker access.

I am so glad I gave this shampoo a shot! After many years of trying all the things to control the flakes and psoriasis on my scalp this shampoo has gotten my head almost to normal! I made the mistake of buying Selsun Blue and my head was getting drier and worse, so I went on here to find the Coal Tar shampoo the dermatologist had recommended before to me and instead took a chance on this one, it is GREAT. It does have a smoky smell to it, which I do not mind but some may, it has a thick gel like consistency and you only need a small amount as it has a nice lather to it and cleans my long hair well. I feel like my hair looks fuller and nicer even, and people have commented on it looking fuller! My plaques around my ear at my scalp hair line are pretty much gone and I have not gotten through half of the first bottle yet! I believe this will get rid of all the dryness on my scalp as it already has gotten me to this stage. I hope it works as well for everyone. I will continue to buy as it is the first shampoo I notice actually working and I will try the other shampoos from this company as well. Just happy!
