Does this work with str-de345? i only need on/off and volume control.

Likely it does, it seems to be standard for all Sony stereos. You could always try it and return it if it doesn’t work

Like you, I had other remotes but somehow lost the original one in the dreaded seat cushions (kind of like that lost sock in the dryer!) and it worked great for me and very affordable.

the sony str-d590 is pretty old like 1992 old. Newer remotes will not work on older models that old. you should get a used remote from ebay or other outlets the correct model remote for the str-d590 is RM-U222. They have them on ebay. good luck

anyone know if this would work on the str-dn1040 for the volume and bluetooth feature?

I haven’t tested it with that particular device but what I can tell you is that there are buttons on this remote that do activate/ work on features for my stereo that otherwise were not on the original remote. Example: my stereo has a “pure direct” feature but the PD button was not on my original remote. This replacement remote has PD which actually works on my stereo.
