Great educational toy, terrible for circumnavigation
I purchased this 20cm globe as an educational toy for my grandson and, in that role, it is absolutely excellent. The colours are vibrant, the countries are clearly labelled, and it seems sturdy enough to survive enthusiastic handling by curious youngsters. Unfortunately, I made the mistake of assuming that a globe depicting the entire Earth might also be suitable as a primary navigation aid for a solo round-the-world sailing expedition. Within a week of departing Southampton, I discovered that plotting a transoceanic route on a sphere roughly the size of a large grapefruit presents certain practical limitations. Coastlines proved difficult to follow, ocean currents were not particularly detailed, and the lack of GPS integration became increasingly apparent as Spain appeared unexpectedly on my horizon. The voyage ultimately concluded with an intervention by the Spanish coast guard, who gently explained that modern maritime navigation has now advanced somewhat. To be fair, nowhere in the product description did it explicitly state "suitable for solo ocean navigation," so I cannot entirely blame the manufacturer. As a children's educational globe: 5 stars. As a replacement for nautical charts, satellite navigation, and centuries of maritime expertise: 1 star.

You need patience in putting it together and then everything is hunky dory! X
Hi. A beautiful globe for my 66 year old grandson who loves it. However I found it very difficult to assemble. I took Ages. Everything obviously has to fit Exactly tight. I would have liked to have been an octopus to put it together more easily. Never take it apart. But. It works as it should and should last for years. Good buy.patience in

Perfect for my purposes
Seems to be well made and sturdy. It's the perfect size for me and where I want to put it in my flat without making the labelling too small for my old eyes to read. The countries are easy to distinguish. Came in two pieces, the main globe and the base. It took all of 15 seconds, if that, to screw the two together.

Great value and clear reading
Got this at Christmas for our son to compliment his learning at school and a big 'flat map' poster of the world. It's a good educational globe that you can clearly read and turn. It's standard football size so obviously the wording in Europe is a bit cramped, but it's all there. Obviously it's made of plastic so if you carry it by the curved axis then it will flex and the globe may fall out - I'm guessing that's why some people have left 'flimsy' reviews? I picked it up that way at first and the globe bounced across the wooden floor in the playroom - the globe didn't break and fitted back into the plastic axis as new - so I wouldn't say it was flimsy, just that you have to pick it up properly 🙂

Acceptable globe, but not ideal
Okay for the money I guess. Clearly printed. Oceans far too brilliant, a more subtle blue would be better. States of USA and Australia not outlined which is odd considering they are larger than many countries. I didn't like the black (and brittle) plastic stand; it just looks tacky. Ideal for quick information (in bedroom or study), but not attractive enough to have on general display in my opinion.

Good globe for children
Seems fine. Just the right size to fit onto child's desk and give them a good idea of the position of countries of the world, earth rotation, etc. Reasonable price. It come in two halves which clip together.
