Time Pieces is an exciting new series of repertoire which explores the wealth of music written from the sixteenth century to the present day. The pieces are presented chronologically within each volume and all include the year in which they were written too so you can map your journey through time. Time Pieces for Cello is a three-volume anthology providing a graded selection of well-crafted and idiomatic arrangements, as well as some original pieces, for cello and piano. All of them have been carefully written to provide practice of the keys, note ranges and fingering patterns encountered in the early grades, and there are suggestions for position work and varied bowing patterns. Each volume balances well-known pieces with less familiar music, and the emphasis throughout is on tuneful repertoire perfectly suited to the cello with a simple supportive piano accompaniment. From Tallis to Tchaikovsky and from Haydn to Britten, Time Pieces for Cello allows the pupil to get a real feel for the different styles of music through time and will prove an invaluable, varied source of further study and recital repertoire. Perfect for learners exploring repertoire for the own-choice piece in ABRSM's Performance Grade exams

Great for grade 1-3 ABRSM exams
This book has a number of pieces that are on the syllabus for grade 1-3. In effect, it contains all grade 2 and 3 pieces (list A,B and C), offering good value for money (exam 2012-15). No more purchases for me for a while, as my daughter is moving from grade 1 to 2.

More Time Pieces for Cello, Vol 1
This contains a good mix of styles which children enjoy. It's an effective way of buying the exam music or just varied repertoire of a similar level. I like the dates written above the pieces giving children a historical perspective.

No Piano Part included
This is a great book for cellists working through their grades.Be aware though, I have bought this book twice now, the second time ordering it after informing them that no piano part arrived with the first order book. This has happened again - cello part but no piano part. Nowhere can I see that it is listed as just the cello part. Be careful if you are buying this for the exam as the piano part is needed

ZERO STARS! BEWARE, BEWARE, BEWARE!
The syllabus has recently changed, and there are all or mostly all new works required for the cello exams.I received books from the prior syllabus which are now pretty much useless and a huge waste of money. As it is, you will spend a lot of you g this route (ABRSM). I didn't really need old and worthless books on top of that.Otherwise it is an excellent system. Lots of rules, but that is life if you want to be a success at anything.
