What you need to know
An excellent machine which will save you a lot of work and will markedly improve your lawn. I am probably the worst garden equipment assembler, but this really is quite easy. There are two attachments, a raker already fitted and a scarifying tine attachment which is basically the same thing but for lighter raking duties like leaf collecting. You won't be able to aerate your lawn with this type of machine, but it's great for scarifying. Only use going fowards, never reversing backwards. Ignore comments on here about the collection bag not being large enough, this is usual as it is a highly effective machine. As it collects so much moss, it's best to leave the bag off completely, just keep the flap open by fitting the cage only without the bag. Wear wellington boots to protect your legs from dirt being thrown up. The electric cord holders work well enough if you fit them the right way around. This machine has been very well designed and I give it full marks.

A handy piece of kit
Quite a useful machine. It saved a lot of hard work. The collection basket is simply not big enough. You can either stop and empty every couple of minutes or leave it off a pick up the scarified material by hand. Very effective at scarifying but not so much as a rake. I’m still pleased I bought it though. Very light and very little effort to use as it pulls itself along. Takes about ten minutes to assemble.

Great value for money and ideal for any new amateur gardeners
Amazing item. Very easy to assemble with only a screw driver. I am very happy with the scarification and the aeration work completed using this product and highly recommend for anyone who wishes to does these by themselves for a lower cost. Only downside is the container which gets filled quickly and that’s expected with the size of the container

Moss killer.
Excellent machine. Very easily assembled. Did a great job on my lawn. I did a run at number 3 setting first and then I moved the blade down. I was amazed,it took the same amount out of my lawn. I intend to manage the moss from now on.

Good to use
The machine doesn't look very big, but it's quite easy to use. It's more convenient than manual punching for the first time.

Does the job
I've been using this the past couple of days on our lawn - which is split into two parts of quite large areas, probably just shy of tennis court size in total. It had become very springy and our battery mower was struggling to cut the grass (which is its one job, really, but there you go), and previous attempts at using moss killer and raking the lawn were just not making much difference and the lawn was getting thicker and thicker. We realised we needed a mechanical scarifier. This machine got up an amazing amount of thatch (no wonder we'd seen grass snakes in the summer! These are harmless, btw - and rather lovely, I think. Please don't hurt them if you see one!).Anyway, I filled a wheelie bin and three bags on the first go. My only criticism is the small grass collector on the back of the machine isn't really much use to man nor beast - just two or three yards along and it was full, so instead of going to the bin every 2 minutes I gave up and left it on the grass and raked it into piles, before bagging/binning. The machine had done the hard work so it was not really too difficult to rake up. And I needed a workout!I'm used to a battery mower and not a fan of electric cables but as it's not something I would use every week, it wasn't too much of a problem. It's got a good long cable that should be fine for most small to medium gardens, though I needed to bring out an extension. Haven't tried the aerator yet but I'll do this after giving the lawn a bit of feed. It looks easy enough to change over with an allen key. Also, setting up the push handle was very easy, too.So, if you've got a lawn, especially one that desperately needs scarifying, I'd recommend this machine - very good value and it does the job well.

Powerful little machine
I'm really impressed with this product! Having never touched my lawn since we moved into our house 12 years ago it had turned into a sea of dead moss so I thought I finally had to do something about it. Despite being a lightweight machine it's very powerful and scarified really well with just one pass. As all the other reviews note the collection bag is next to useless, but I think that's a common issue with all similar machines. Instead take the bag off its wire frame and still insert the frame as this keeps the back flap open ensuring that the scarifier still ejects the moss, if you don't and the flap's closed the machine clogs. So whilst you'll still have lots of raking up to do it takes almost all the hard work out of it. The biggest problem I've got is what to do with the two builders bags of dead matting it removed from my lawn!

Perfect for small lawns.
Excellent, sturdy machine which will hopefully last years, for the price of hiring a scarifier for 3 days (so will pay for itself many times over).Easy to put together and then scarified the (somewhat neglected) lawn with ease. One design feature that would improve this product would be a catch to hold the back flap open when your not using the hopper on the back. I held it open with a piece of string.
