Aquadoodle Classic Water Doodle Mat - No Mess Colouring, 18M+

Son is 13 months old and enjoys playing with this. We were advised by his nursery that he needed to develop his "mark making" skills (we read into that as drawing). Really simple to use, unscrew the pen to fill with water, and then unfold and let your child draw on the mat. The pen doesn't not drip water, the nib feels like a damp flannel and the mat once damp temporarily reveals the colour underneath (i.e. where he draws). This mat is excellent, easy to transport or fold away. Simple to use and robust. The pen doesn't leave marks anywhere so furniture, walls, carpets are safe! Box has a recommended age of 18+ but our son is 13m and enjoys playing with this in bursts and as a joint activity. It is new (1 week we have had this) and he plays with it everyday - on one occasion he has sought this out and taken it out for himself. There are a few similar products available on Amazon - I can't comment on the quality of the others, but the Tomy Aquadoodle classic Large, has been great for us. Very happy with this. Context: We have lots of wooden toys, musical instruments and books and at this stage very little in the way of electronic / plastic / battery operated toys. I mention this because he has to actively engage with his toys rather than passively play with them (i.e. they won't make noises, move, light up etc. by themselves - he has to play with them) - and therefore at the moment doesn't appear to be bored / uninterested by this type of play and this apparatus in particular (aqua doodle).

Bought as a gift for my grandson and he loves it no mess just add tap water to the pen and off you go. I love how it draws indifferent colours the pen has no drips and when you have finished it drys really quick

Bought this mat as a gift for my nephew. He's enjoying it well ideal for his age (1 year old) but be warned it's smaller than it looks. I should have paid note to the dimensions but if you're buying for an older child or for more than one child I would suggest a larger mat. Larger mats tend to come with more tools too (stamps and rollers) where as this one is just the water pen.

The best thing I have ever bought for my son. You fill up the little pen with water then draw for as long as you want and once there is no more space to draw in you simply take your hairdryer and dry the thing in seconds and continue drawing. Endless fun and more importantly no mess! Because there is nothing to make mess with! How much mess can a little pen with water make compared to wax crayons or markers. No more drawing on the wall with this pen or on the floors, no more stained couches etc. And also it’s great when your little one loves drawing but is still at the stage where they put absolutely everything in their mouth. 10/10 would recommend to everyone and I plan on buying it for all of our friends with babies. Also it’s not expensive compared to the quality and all the advantages.

Pricey for a bit of plastic. I wished I had thought about it more, giving plastic to my grandson. Isn't very good advert for Grandma hating the stuff for what it is doing to our oceans

Really really happy with this purchase. My little one absolutely LOVES it. It's of good quality and couldn't be much simpler to use. So far it's provided hours of fun and I would wager will continue to do so for a while. Great, non-messy, option for introducing your child/children to using a pen and the creativity that comes with it. The pen is robust and has taken a beating and has been sucked and chewed to oblivion and is still ticking! I was a bit edgy about the price initially as it's such a simplistic bit of kit, but the quality merits it I think.

Ho acquistato questo tappeto per mio figlio di 14 mesi che mostrava interesse nel tracciare scarabocchi, ma che si imbrattava tutto con i pennarelli classici, tendendo anche a ciucciarli e pure se atossici la cosa non mi piaceva per niente. Questo tappeto da loro la possibilità di disegnare senza preoccuparsi di nulla e da la possibilità a noi genitori di rilassarci. Il pennarello si carica riempiendolo di acqua, passandolo poi sul tappeto magico ecco apparire i 4 colori. Ancora non ci passa del tempo, più che altro gira per casa con il pennarello in mano ogni tanto va e traccia qualche riga, ma sono certa che tra poco tempo sarà sfruttato appieno!

My son loves this. Fill up the pen with water and get hours of entertainment drawing on the large mat. When it dries you can reuse the mat. The mat is large and great to place on a table or the floor. It's colourful and has lots of numbers, animals and the alphabet. Very educational. Suitable for toddlers and beyond.
