Perfect product
I took down a rectangular wooden curtain rail which was fixed by 5 nails. Not only were there 5 big nail holes, the wall behind the wood was untreated and a cm or two uneven from the rest of the wall. I tried a number of fillers that didn't do the job. Then I read somewhere to try this filler. It's amazing. You really can brush it on. Which on a 5 foot curtain pole was just what I needed. The instructions are pretty clear. It takes 24 hours to dry. Which is annoying. And there are two steps to do after 3 and four hours. It's simply smoothing the finish twice before it drys. I didn't bother as it was such a big hole, and I knew it would need sanding. After doing so, and then painting, the finish is perfect. You can't see anything of the large hole

My favourite finishing product
Polycell Finishing Skim is great because unlike fine surface filler it's actually VERY easy to sand. For that reason I use it for a lot of surface filling jobs and minor plaster repairs because I know I can sand it back to a perfectly smooth finish both quickly and easily. The largest area I've probably used this on is about a meter square, after I removed a tiled splashback from behind a sink and wanted a smooth painted finish in its place. The finishing skim goes on easily with a plastic spreader (the one that comes in the pack is too small for me, so I use a bigger one) and dries quickly. Then comes the sanding - lots and lots of sanding. I use ordinary sandpaper with a cork sanding block and sand by hand using a circular motion. It creates a lot of dust, most of which settles to the floor but a lot of it gets airborne, so I strongly recommend wearing a dust mask when you do it. A power sander is overkill for this process, and will literally tear your finishing skim from the wall in a matter of seconds. A small tub goes a long way, and I always like to keep some handy for those quick repair jobs.

Does the job but donโt bother with the included scraper!
Difficult to get right but does the job, with plenty of patience. We used this to fix a wall after removing wallpaper. Took two layers of this stuff to get the wall ready for fresh wallpaper, it went on smoothly by using this product. Itโs super hard to get it even and smooth but cheaper than hiring a plasterer! Make sure to give it a good sand once fully dry. Would only recomend for smaller jobs, and it does get very messy! Donโt use the small flimsy scraper that comes with this as you wonโt get an even coat. Just buy a pack of varying size plastic or metal scrapers separately.

Good product
Having never tried to skim a wall before i think this product has done a pretty good job . I spayed the wall with water before applying as recommended for powdery dry surfaces. Painted on easily with a paint brush then provided plastic spatula did a good enough job of making a fairly smooth surface . 2 hours later i went back smoothed of the rough bits with a wet paint brush then went back over any uneven parts with more skim using the plastic tool . Im happy with the results it should i hope look fine once painted.

fantastic and easy to use
We decided to remove some built-in cupboards in the hallway - only to discover the ceiling wasn't level. we didn't have the money to have the ceiling skimmed so needed something to blend the lip part so it looked a bit more even... this stuff worked great and dried quickly... we built it up in layers, sanded it, and smoothed as instructed... it also paints very well. Of course you can see it slopes... but we expected that :-P Oh...it also works on cracks and gaps and filling in holes... fantastic stuff

As described
Product looks good, ordered smaller size in case it didn't work. Lid was broken in transit.

Wow this is amazing for repairing old tired walls
Well what can i say, I wasnt sure about this, but i got old cottage which the walls were very tired and pitted. Old tile marks, general stuff going on with them. So I repaired them with this, and found so easy to sand flat. Then discovered if you apply it and maybe leave so just starting to dry out, get a good piece of paper roll or similar and buff the patch even slightly dampen the edges smooth out without the messing dust sanding later. I had to repair couple places few time but it was very very badly damaged walls. But now you cant tell. I repaired a full corner in my passage which i thought was beyond repair and needed a need edging bead. I wont use anything else now this is the best ever product for filling. Its so much easier to work with against to polyfiler. instructions sounds scary like leave 4 hours then use a dampen brish etc nah you dont need to do that. Do it my way and i think you will be impressed. Given couple coats paint and job done ! one tub goes a long way too. good value for money

Wonderful product, let down by the delivery.
Like other customers have experienced the tub was damaged on arrival. Hard bits had formed inside the box and also had stuck to the small tub of wood filler in the same box. Fortuantely I had a near empty tub of a product I was to prepared to discard so I transferred the contents from the damaged tub. Have been using Polycell finishing skim for years. The beauty of this product compared to other fillers is the ease of which it can be sanded smooth. Can be used on plaster or painted surfaces and sanded down with a fine sanding block without too much effort. Curing time is quick, a few hours. Allows you to fill deeper imperfections in layers quickly.
