Best looking case but not durable at all
For my month of ownership using this case and without ever dropping my Macbook, the edges have already started showing surface cracks on all corners. Furthermore, because this case is (im assuming) using more premium plastic materials it's heavier, and as a result it puts a lot of strain on the hinge of the Macbook pro. When i'm closing the lid of my laptop it would slam down instead of having a soft closure, i'm sure over time this would destroy the hinge integrity.Either get a removable case/bag for your macbook or run it without any case. These computers are made to not have extra weight around them.

This case will crack.
The case started cracking on all of the corners rather quickly and it is a bit frightening to remove as well.

Garbage
Cracked on both side of the lid panel less than 6 months. I only used it at home. Super fragile.

A good case, definitely has its quirks
A few years back I moved away from protective cases and more to just using a vinyl skin, because the colors were more customizable (I'm one of those people that stick a lot of stickers on my laptop) and it wasn't as bulky. However I got this to review for my 16in M1 Macbook Pro because I was starting to daily drive it a lot for work and I needed something that can give it some more protection in my backpack. The short version is, this thing is good, with some things to note.So the first distinction for a case is this one is pretty thin. The ones I've typically seen are far more bulkier, and since these cases aren't meant to protect against literal drops, I didn't need something super thick and this one definitely isn't. It's also asymmetrical. Satechi I believe sells those dual-USBC attachments that you plug into the side of your Macbook to give more ports, and this one on the left side has a larger cutout to account for those. The case also extends out to the rear lower corners of the laptop on the bottom shell, which not all cases protect. The feet are tall and grippy, and there are individual cutouts for the fan intake vents on the front bottom (this isn't special, just want to point that out). There is Satechi branding towards the ESC key for the top shell that protects the display. If you do get the clear version, you can put your stickers on the laptop (mine's stuck onto my existing vinyl skin) and you can see it through the case.Removing the shell is also pretty easy, since Satechi's little tabs that keep the case in place are quite small, and removal doesn't feel like you're ripping your Macbook apart. Despite the small tabs, they do stay on quite well. The tabs on the palmrest of the laptop is also very much towards the side, so even if your arms do rest on top of the tabs, it doesn't feel as obvious. The downside is if you deliberately press down on the middle of the case from the palmrest/cutout near the trackpad, it will definitely move. This isn't an issue for me, but let's just say that Satechi isn't immune to physics. Of course with all of these cases, you might feel it from your arms/palms. It's not sharp per say, but you might feel it there. The only difference I have to point out, and this is more of an Apple thing than a Satechi thing, is I guess the newer Macbook Pros take less force to lift the display, so with the extra weight (which is still quite light because of the thinner shell) it makes the display hinge feel like it's loose when closing the lid. It's not a major issue and I can still carry the laptop around with it open, walking around and it doesn't cause anything different, it's just something that i want to point out.Update: This case has pretty tight tolerances, if your laptop has a skin and stickers (2 layers of adhesives on the back of the display), and the stickers are around the edges, that's thick enough for the latches to not latch on properly for this case. Just keep that in mind if you do end up getting this thingSo overall, I like it. It doesn't get too bulky as I expected from Macbook cases I've had in the past. Former models of Macbooks were pretty thin, which benefited from the bulkier cases that made them a bit easier to carry. However with these M1 Macbook Pros they've returned to a more chonkier design which the thinner case helps with carrying around. The material feels solid, you do have the option to use a USB attachment to the left of the laptop, and it feels like a decent case. Just keep in mind the price, at the time of this review it's $45 w/ a $5 discount coupon, it's definitely a bit on the expensive side for a case and is more expensive than getting a vinyl skin that's not from dBrand.

fantastic quality hard shell case cover!
Perfect tolerances, perfect material (being matte-clear) smooth with some gritty feel to it. Does not hinder the lid of the MBP from closing whatsoever and will NOT damage your MBP if the lid is shut because of the high tolerance of how the clip on tabs are designed. They fit right on the edge of the METAL and allows the rubber gasket along the edge of the entire display to sit flush with the chassis. The covers themselves do not block or touch the rubber gaskets at all so the lid will open and close perfectly fine with this particular hard shell cover case!I was concerned about the shell affecting how the lid closes but I was relieved when I examined every angle when the cover was put on and I did not find a single fault with this hard shell cover. I wished it would come in different shades but it gives your M1 Pro 16.2” MBP (A2485) a nice non-gloss appearance while protecting it from external scratches. This is not meant to protect from dropping because of how thin this hard shell case is. But it will give you that ability to freely carry your MBP around without a single worry about scratches/dents from hitting the wall/corner/doors.It is around 12oz weight so add that to your already heavy A2485 MBP which is around 4.6lbs already. I really like it because I can put the laptop in my bag/backpack and not worry at all about anything rubbing against the raw metal. It beats using a skin as well because this is actually a millimeter thick worth of hard protection vs some polyurethane sheet. The vents on the bottom are never covered, the rear ventilation is not obstructed as well, and the ports are all free to be used with any external dongle you need. The case also has 4 rubber feet in addition to the stock rubber feet - this gives the MBP and extended height when set on the table for that extra air ventilation. Overall an excellent hard shell protection cover case and I love it!

Okay, not great for the price
Good:Almost clear with light texture. Shows Apple logo.Rubber feet feels solidBad:Shell is slippery. I don't feel confident using itPlastic edges and the locking tabs are sharp and pockyNo vent underneath. I have used several other cases and every one of them had vents underneath. MacBook Pro M1Max runs hotter with this case. Going back to other cases
