Meridian Foods JAMORGN60 Barley Malt Extract 370 g (Pack of 6)

Bought to feed our family addiction to malt loaves, I know it's cheaper to buy mass produced malt loaves but I prefer to make my own, I know what has gone into them, no additives or colouring and I can safely freeze them if I want knowing they are freshly made. I do admit to a love of malt extract, probably from childhood when mum would stir a dollop into hot milk as a night time drink for us kids, so when having a baking day, a sneaky spoonful or two can mysteriously vanish. This product is just as I remember malt to be and much cheaper than buying from my local chemist, who always has to order it specially, because their stock product has added cod liver oil. (Not to be recommended for baking) Buy this through Amazon instead.

Fantastic price for this six-pack of malt, but unfortunately my parcel was in a bit of a mess. One of the lids, although sealed, had not been secured properly, and consequently I had malt extract all over the others. Anyway, nothing broken, and probably very little loss from the jar, just a very gooey mess!!. I won't have to buy this for a long time now anyway. A great malt extract-delicious in malt loaf.

I make granary bread in a machine and a big dollop of this makes it moist and full of flavour. This brand has a sensible size jar that you can actually get a tablespoon into.

Mine arrived with three of the jars smashed, which was a bit of a mess to clear up. Lady at Amazon was fantastic on the phone and refunded the whole lot. So I got 3 jars for the price of clearing up the mess! But well done to Amazon for good customer support. This is the best tasting Barley Malt Extract I have ever tasted. Some of them can be quite bitter, but this is just sweet and delicious!

This is an excellent product which I bought primarily for using in a fruit bread recipe that my family love. Meridian Barley Malt Extract is also great for eating straight off the spoon (not too much of it though as it is, after all, sugar!) and my son puts it in warm milk for his children to help them get a better night's sleep. It is a delicious malt extract and I highly recommend it.

Arrived individually well packed but we were extremely disappointed to find they were not organic as clearly shown in the picture and probably described by the product code jamORGN60, but were the cheaper Meridian non organic versionUpdateI contacted Superfoods UK via Amazon after 48hrs to ask how long it was going to take to resolve the issue, They replied that they were investigating and would require another 48hrs! I then looked them up on Trust Pilot. Don't order before you check it out. This company has what must be the worst reviews I've ever seen. I note now that sending out the non-organic version is a common event with them. Thankfully I bought via Amazon who immediately issued a full refund. Complete waste of time and angst. In future, I won’t buy anything on Amazon that is supplied by this company
