No shake rattle or roll !
No Shake Rattle or RollWhoa, after reading other reviews I was terrified of trying these little XL6009 modules. I wondered if I should avoid them completely or try to place a Zener diode across the output or perhaps a voltage surge device (amazingly, all available on Amazon!) . My basic requirement was to power an LED array from a Lithium Polymer 3.7v battery. I had another step up circuit, reviewed separately ( the DaoRier Step Up Power supply module ASIN B06WD5BBP8) sourced via Amazon which worked brilliantly with a long array of linear LEDs and the 3000mAH battery, also sourced via Amazon and reviewed separately, was able to power this linear array for at least 3-4 hours without hesitating. Only at the end of this time did it start to blink a bit.I therefore optimistically tried the DaoRier on some round LED puck lights, needing to power two of them from the same power source and same step up as I’d used on the linear configuration. I assumed as the load was less, then, it would perform much better. Unfortunately the DaoRier was very unhappy and became very hot. Please note at no time did it fail but it was now too hot to touch – not something that had happened with the linear array. I tried reducing the voltage to about 11.5v from the 12v but it still became very hot. I then tried disconnecting one of the puck lights which did the trick as the DaoRier module cooled quickly but the battery was discharged after less than 2 hours.I therefore decided to try this XL6009-based module after reading the cautious reviews and after finding as much information about the chip as I could on online searches. Please note, setup was quick and easy. I selected the voltage before applying the load. At first it came in at about 20v but a couple of careful turns on the potentiometer and the voltage came down to my choice of 11.5v with the idea being not to overload the LEDs or the circuit. The puck lights were very bright at this voltage. I measured the voltage constantly. After about 4h of constant illumination the voltage began to dip a little but the lights remained lit and did not blink. At all times the circuit remained cool and calm and seemed unruffled, as did the battery. It was only some time later when the voltage went below 8v that the brightness dimmed a little and I continued to monitor. After about another half-hour the voltage came down again and the LEDs finally dimmed at about 7.3v. I continued to monitor the circuit and the voltage dropped to below 6v. At all times there was a slow, steady and predictable fall off in voltage and at no time did I see anything that would concern. All in all, I am very impressed with the XL6009-based module and suspect it is more efficient and robust that the DaoRier. Most important there was no hint at any time of a voltage surge as the Lithium Battery discharged and I witnessed a slow and orderly run-down without drama, which, I am sure you will agree, with any circuit, is the way to go. Please see some photos attached. Happy circuit building.

Fine voltage control
Great modules for making usb powered adapters. Good power output and run much cooler than the usb to 9/12v adapters available elsewhere. Very fine control of output voltage over a large range. Note: Idle current goes up with output voltage.

Use with a 7805 on the output!
As alluded to in the above reviews, these MUST NOT be used with too low an input voltage or else it latches on to a large overvoltage state (20-30V) until the input goes above 3.7V and power is cycled. To prevent damage to 5V equipment it was powering from a 3.7V Li-ion battery, I included a 7805 voltage regulator chip on its output. The 7805 still outputs 5V even when the boost converter is erroneously outputting 20-30V. When it does, power consumption goes up from about 5mA to over 400mA, so the battery gets drained very quickly. I guess you get what you pay for; these are very cheap! Note added later: IVenus, the vendor, politely gave me credit to buy an equal value item when they read that I was not very satisfied with the performance of these.

Output voltage unstable.
This boost converter has an unusual feature. If the input voltage drops to 3.4v or below the output voltage shoots up to 20v! This makes it unsuitable for use with a LiPo battery (4.2 - 3.0v).

They work
The one's I've used did anyway, not bad at all!

love it
You can never go wrong with these! they are fantastic little systems and hardly ever fail. Just watch out for your amp pull and you should be fine (these should run a LED stip perfectly fine

No undervoltage lockout
I should have done a little more research before purchasing these. The XL6009 doesn't have undervoltage lockout, so when going below ~3V you'll get a nice 18V on the output despite your output setting (measured on Volts LoZ - so it's not PFM switching noise).Just proves you must test these things before you use them no matter how urgent your project is!Not too expensive that I will loose sleep over them, but they are going to be responsibly disposed of. ;)

Parfait merci
Peu puissant évidement mais parfait merci

Tut was es soll!

Ottimo!
