Brilliant Model, Has Issues Though
Really nice detailed model, one that i really enjoyed doing. Some of the detail on the ships hull can be tricky to paint due to it`s size but i just about managed with a modelling lens. Did not bother attaching the sails as i think the model looks nicer without them, plastic sails always look cheap so i may add fabric ones at a later stage. My only gripe is the quality of the injection moulding, i know with plastic kits it`s unavoidable but this one was particularly poor. Virtually every part had to be trimmed and some of the pieces are so small it`s almost impossible to remove them without damaging or snapping them. Modeller beware, may sound obvious but a really sharp knife and strong magnifier are needed if you want to do it justice, not the easiest kit to do but worth the effort, just a shame about the moulding.

The molding quality is very poor. I had to file down/modify just about every ...
This is not up to the standard I have come to expect for Revell Plastic Kits. Revell give this kit a 5 rating for difficulty... I really think they need to have a 5+ or 6 rating specially for this model. The molding quality is very poor. I had to file down/modify just about every one of the parts. The instructions are also not of the detail I expect...much of the construction had to be puzzled over. The rigging arrangement suggested is obviously a simplification of the spiders web of the real thing. But, maybe it's just me, but the very flimsy and spindly masts and spars are very difficult to keep intact AND complete the rigging as per the instructions. This perhaps explains why many of the photos of completed kits I found on the internet had vrey simplified rigging.I would say that if I were to construct this kit again I would approach it in a completely different way. All that said, I finally managed to get a finished model which looks pretty impressive.

Great model
Took just under two months to build on and off with work etc. But patience has paid off. I am very pleased with the end result. A superb model that does have some issues like flash and injector pins to remove with a knife and some parts are extremely small but it was all worth it. I have also not used the plastic sails as I think the model looks better without them although I may well later make some rolled cloth sails for it. Rigging can be complicated but stick with it and you won't be disappointed.

Good but not good
When it comes to quality this model is terrible, your have to trim everything as mouldings are so bad, instruction are bad, and not clear on paint selection. Ive made many models and this is the worst i have seen. But saying that i still had great fun putting it together so i suppose its good value. Give it a go but take your time, so im in the middle on thus one.

It’s not broken, it’s a feature..
Old midel so lots of bleeding edges but that just give you more time doing the fun task of cutting and filing away at the small bits of plastic. Speaking of plastic it’s not the best quality due to its age so it’s not extremely detailed. I’m hoping it turns out alright in the end with time and effort.

Super

The kit is well made.
The kit is well made, quite precise and doesn't require much work to assemble. The end result looks good but it also depends on the skill of the person making it.

Bellissima
