These pinecones are 100% natural, they have never been treated with anything.

Will the pinecones stand up on their end?

To get them to stand up straight I have had to carefully remove some of the bottom pieces. I have been able to get them straight then.

Can the pinecones be cut to varying sizes?

If you want a smaller pine cone, I would suggest using this company for a smaller size. However, to answer your question, no I do not think these would be able to be cut down.

Can these be painted?

Yes these pinecones certainly can be painted. That will make a great addition to your christmas display
