Goddard's Silver Polish Foam – 170 gram – Silver Cleaner & Tarnish Remover with Applicator – Cleans, Shines & Protects – Silverware, Jewelry, Antiques, Cutlery, Trays, Tea Sets and More

This is a great silver cleaner. It comes as a thick brown paste with a sponge pad for cleaning. If you’re wanting some thing to just dip your silver in to remove the tarnish then this isn’t it. You dampen the sponge and wipe on a bit of the paste, then rub your silver item with the sponge. Sometimes the tarnish comes straight off even when it’s quite dark, sometimes it takes a bit of rubbing, I think it just depends on the atmosphere the silver has been kept in and how long it’s been since it was cleaned. I think the silver dip does have its uses but it can be quite harsh, and it’s no good if your piece has a decorative finish, I like using this foam for vintage items as you can just take some tarnish away without stripping all the character out. I have used it on silver and silver plated items and it works fine, it doesn’t damage the silver plate. If your item is a bit intricate then you might want to use a soft toothbrush to get into the nooks and crannies, then rinse well in water or you will be left with some polish residue. I have also used this on gold jewellery from 9ct to 22ct, which leaves a nice shine, and I’ve used it on jewellery containing stones such as diamonds, sapphire, garnet, turquoise, labradorite, cubic zirconia etc. it has never damaged anything and has always worked. If you’re cleaning a piece of jewellery and it’s not doing anything then it’s probably not real silver. I have cleaned 925 silver and slightly less pure 888/825/800 silver. You don’t get as much of a shine with lower qualities but it does still work. It isn’t designed for removing general dirt such as skin oils, hand creams and soap residue, you’ll want to use a different cleaner for that.

I have a Pandora bracelet that I wear as a ankle bracelet and my son has a solid silver chain, we go swimming all the time andx in our hot tub all the time and the chlorine has never affected our silver, we went on holiday to Cyprus and the Villa had a hot tub, within 15minutes of us being in the hot tub on holiday, my pandora and his chain had gone black (it also took the black dye out his swim shorts as they went brown like bleach had been spilt on them so the chemical level were clearly not right. I was so worried our jewelry was ruined, ordered this so it arrived the same day as we were back, I read the reviews of several silver cleaners and this seemed to have the best reviews. The pot contains a brown clay like thick paste, with a sheet of plastic on top and a sponge in the pot , it said wet the sponge with warm water and get some paste on the sponge and rub over the silver till it foams, rinse in water and dry, sooooo impressed you can see it instantly working, my dull/black pandora and his chain are now back to being bright silver. HIGHLY RECOMMEND this product, this brand has been going for soooooo many years, super product, sorry my mobile tan out of battery whilst filming so clip ends short of my finishing but through it was helpful for you to see the product working so still attached it to the review

The paste is a little on the weak side but it does "slowly" do the job. I had to use this many times and have finally got my silver crucifix shining but still slightly dull in places. For the price, it is not the best value as I will need to use it agian and again to get the result required. The applicator is just a cheap piece of sponge and although the instructions of use say the paste has to be used on the applicator, whilst damp with warm water, it states that it is supposed to "foam" but it doesn't. The paste does do the job but as it doesn't foam as described it just means more work required and more paste needed. However, one doe know when it is working as the applicator (cheap sponge) starts greying. I'll try it again but with an old toothbrush or maybe the rough, green, side of a dish washing sponge. Hopefully that will finish the job. I do have one of Goddard's "polishing cloths" ordered so hopefully that will also help revive my 100% silver crucufix and help prevent it going back to the state it was in, due to heavy polution. I don't recommend this product because it can do the job it's designed to do but with more work involved and loads of paste is needed for even the smallest of items. There are better products available, including some that are liquid. Alternatively, a short dip in some hydrochloric acid will do the best job, with no effort and it's better value for money as any acid not used can be used to clear / clean the drains Pros - it works but only just! Cons - could be better packaged, it doesn't foam takes more work than expected cheap sponge applicator

I would definitely recommend this product, i did my son christening cup which is silver and is 46 years old very dirty, it came up like brand new, so can't wait to do my other bits, good value for money and brings item up with nice shine,

I was going to use Autosol for cleaning my wife’s silver jewellery, but a bit of research revealed it’s a bit too aggressive. This stuff works beautifully, and is very quick and easy to use.

Funciona bien. Lleva un minuto para sacar un buen brillo a plata que tenga un superficie liso (cubiertos, etc). Tengo un candelabro de plata con una textura poca lisa y tardé dos minutos en pulirlo. El aplicador es de espuma común. Muy satisfecho con la compra, lo recomiendo.

Ho subito utilizzato il prodotto per pulire gli argenti di casa. E' risultato molto più performante rispetto a prodotti similari di media-alta gamma. La pulizia avviene in modo molto facile, con la spugnetta fornita nella confezione, con un'ottima resa. Non ho ancora potuto verificare come si comporta con l'ossidazione, ma mi aspetto buoni risultati.

Perfect, nice neat polish, doesn’t make a mess gets the silver, nice and clean. I first used a tarnish removing plate, then use the cream for a high polish luster and gets the rest of the tarnish off.
