Autoglym Convertible Soft Top Clean & Protect Complete Kit

I've used this to protect the hood on a MINI Roadster. The kit has two parts, a hood cleaner spray solution and a hood protector spray solution. It also comes with a sponge applicator. I found the cleaner successfully removed green algea from the hood, and the protector ensures that rain forms into spheres and simply rolls off the surface.My advice would be not to spray either solution anywhere. If you do, ensure the paintwork and windows are covered as this stuff sticks really well and is a pain to remove. I poured a little into a clean jam jar and applied it with a small paint brush. This way you can ensure the solution goes exactly where you want it to with no mess on paintwork or glass. It will not damage those areas, but is difficult to remove.One kit is sufficient for two applications. I apply it twice a year. I'd say it's a 5 star product at a 4 star price.

"Autoglym's reputation speaks for itself and this is no exception.My recently acquired 2004 Mini Cooper S convertible didn't appear to have been cleaned since new and looked like it had been parked under a tree with green mildew showing in spots.I made sure I had a nice warm but cloudy day with minimal wind to prevent loss and overspray. The neighbours were looking at me daft, but I recommend vacuuming the roof first as instructed. With two applications, the shampoo did need some repeat applications on the stubborn marks and a thumb nail on the really engrained spots.I didn't mask the car body or glass, but washed the car body first and kept a bucket of clean water and cloth handy to rinse off the car body as necessary, which worked fine.I was amazed as the sponge soon began to turn green from the dirt being removed and the roof quickly began to show a great improvement. Have a little patience and don't expect miracles in seconds. The effort you put in reflects the results you get and I would estimate I put a couple of hours in, which was worth every minute..The sealer went on easy, but I did use quite a bit to ensure it was completely sealed. The roof dried to a clean dark finish and now beads the rain water nicely.From checking round, you can't buy the shampoo and sealer separately. I still have shampoo, but i'm running low on the sealer and will have to buy a complete kit again.Shop around and don't rush to Halfords as you will pay £19.99 for the same kit!I wish i'd taken pics as the finished result is really excellent.Andy.

First of all let me mention that this product was tested on a knackered soft top which wasn't looked after by the previous owner and was stricken with mould. I wasn't expecting it to come up like new but after just one wash (having scrubbed the product in well) and rinse it already looked a thousand times better. Its clear that had this procedure been done more regularly than once every ten years or more it would look fantastic all the time!So as for the cleaner be aware that if the top is in poor condition you will have to do several washes with this stuff the first time. Otherwise its a great product and does what it's supposed to! the colour of the top was also worth noting as it really showed through after cleaning the layer of grime away which had discoloured the top.The protector is of course the second product in this pack and all I can say is wow! what a difference it makes. As soon as water hits the top (after just one application left to cure overnight) it beads up instantly and rolls off with almost no absorption save for the heaviest of rain. Just like their fantastic HD wax which I now swear by having tried loads, I would swear by this as my protection of choice for fabric tops.Another brilliant autoglym product!

I've marked this 5 stars even though I had some problems.There was a fault with the proofer product that came from Amazon but Autoglym customer service have been briilant and sent me a replacement.I used this on the original hood of my 2004 Mazda MX5 which had started to absorb water rather than repel it.The Autoglym shampoo is excellent, it's really easy to apply - just use on a dampened surface. The sponge it comes with did the job fine and I didn't have to report to a scrubbing brush or similar. I hadn't realised how dirty the hood was, normal car shampoo obviously is not nearly as effective as this product. The water was green! It did take a lot of rinsing to remove all the shampoo but you must do this or the proofer might not work.The proofer just sprays on, yopu just have to make sure there is no overspray. I unclipped the hood and put a large sheet under it which covered the doors and windscreen so I only had to mask the rear window.The hood now looks really tidy and is much more water repellent.
