How tealistic do the flames look

The flames look great, I was very fussy about them looking realistic

The power cord is it at the rear or too the side of the fire

The Power cord is at the rear of the fire

Can you stand this on a carpet

No it has to be screwed to the wall. It's not designed to be "free standing",.

When inset, does this fire draw air from the front (a cold room) or the rear (dusty chimney) before blowing it warm into the room? Thanks,

Draws air from the room. It’s a sealed unit at the back in the chimney
