Very quiet and looks great
We bought this to replace a similar but cheaper fire which we could rarely use because it was so noisy with just the flame effect on. Let's face it, essentially this is an expensive light with the added bonus of a heater. It certainly looks the part with the optiflame effect and even when turned off there is a glowing ember effect on the logs. We can't hear any noise with just the flame on and that is without any other noise in the room. Obviously there is noise when you turn the fan heater on, there's going to be, but even then it is not overly loud and I have had it on at 4am to warm the room when I get up for work rather than put the heating on for the house. It certainly throws out some heat too and with a controllable thermostat it turns itself off when it gets to the desired temperature. The controls are neatly hidden behind the door. It would have been nice to have a control speed for the flames but that option isn't available for this model.Overall it was a great buy.

Nice homely looking fire.
Fire arrived today , I'm more than impressed with it , looks good , nice fire effect , not at all loud , quality made , quite large aswell which I wanted , metal in construction , not plastic rubbish , two heat settings , and thermostat controlled for further economic running , it's got a good weight to it aswell , but not overly heavy heavy . Remote controlled aswell . All in all a great looking fire .

Very impressive
It looks good, very sturdy and realistic because it's metal, any plastic is inside. It adds warmth with just the flame, which is why I bought it as I do miss a real fire. I have no need for the heating element as my central heating is efficient enough, although I expect it will be useful on occasion. I had hesitated to buy it as I was concerned about the weight but it isn't as heavy as expected, certainly no problem for two people. What was a disappointment was the full-on flame. I would have liked an adjustable flame, even a fixed slower flame would be preferable, no fire goes full belt all the time. I can't believe it's not possible to incorporate it into the design, I would have been willing to pay a bit more for it.

Nice looking and easy to set up.
The media could not be loaded. Like how it looks authentic. It's metal rather than MDF like the cheaper ones, so it's a good copy of a real one, yet it's not too heavy and can easily be lifted and carried by two older people. We didn't want the constant maintenance of the more realistic looking Optimyst models, but we're happy with the effect of these realistic logs and clever flames and embers. The only thing I don't like is that, despite having a remote, you cannot alter the heating level. It only operates the light effect. You have to get up and push the buttons behind the door to choose between 1kW and 2kW. As others have said, it's quite noisy but it is only a fan heater after all. I did think being metal, it would become warm like a wood burner, but it doesn't. It's just a fan heater.Summary:I do think it's the best one of it's type. I did extensive research before buying it, and I was delighted by the great price.

Very impressed
The media could not be loaded. Like everything about it. There's a thermostat so you set it and it will go on and off to control the heat. And the flame just carries on. The fan is not very loud it is a fan heater. And I love my telly and it doesn't bother me watching television 😁. It looks quite realistic and I am very happy with the fire. 5 minutes to put together. Unpack place of slate hearth. Put outlet vent on top. Plug it in and turn it on and away you go . The remote you can turn on and off that's all. You cannot change the flame height or the brightness. That is just set in the fire. I love it . It looks like cast iron it is made from some sort of metal . Gives a lot of heat out and it doesn't get hot on top or around it just blows out from the underneath.

Heats Quickly and looks great
We use this in our holiday cabin as the only heat source in the open plan living/kitchen area and it heats up the space really well. It looks really nice in the space as well.Instant hot air when you switch it on.Super easy to use. Just plug in and switch on. 2 heat settings and a temperature dial so it turns off when it reaches the desired heat. The heat comes from the bottom. The top never gets hot so you can put ornaments on it.Lovely flame effect. Not quite as good as our Optimyst but you don't get the condensation that the Optimyst causes so it's worth it.

updated model, and even better!
with quite a few house moves, i've had a number of these over the last 15 years or so, adding to them, sometimes donating them to friends, then buying another... i've always liked them and have had terrific long-lasting performance from them.i love having a remote control. and i think they are the best for flame effect.this updated model no longer needs electric bulbs inserted, and has an adjustable thermostat.i was delighted to find that amazon could sell it themselves, and deliver - in perfect well-packed condition - the icing on the cake!

Poor Remote Control
I am pleased with the fire itself Looks good in the inglenook fireplace. Cosy effect. BUT I am disappointed with the remote control. Hence 4 stars instead of 5. I could not open it to insert a battery. The screw just turned and turned and seemed to have no threads. There was no way it would come out in order to release the battery compartment. Also it is very flimsy and I feel it ought to be made more robust. I contacted Dimplex asking for a replacement control but got no reply!
