Great value for money!
I have had a Braun electric shaver for over 20 years but the battery had deteriorated and getting replacement cutters/foils was becoming challenging and quite expensive, so I decided it was time for a replacement! Positives: - The shaver is quieter than my old one when operational. - The 2 foils and cutter strip all flex to fit the contours of my face and resulted in a smooth shave that took less time than using the old one which is good, with no skin irritation so far. - There is a plastic cover that protects the foils and also extends over the on/off button to prevent it being accidentally turned on in luggage etc. This will materially reduce the risk of damaging the foils (and avoids expensive replacements!). The only drawbacks are: - There isn't an integrated 'straight trimmer' to tidy up sideburns etc. The shaver comes supplied with a separate trimmer attachment and 4 combs to enable cutting to different lengths, which is good as it adds functionality, but personally I would prefer an integrated trimmer like the one I had on my old razor as it is more convenient, especially when travelling. However as I don't use that every day it is not a major inconvenience to have the separate attachment. - It is supplied with a small pouch designed to house the trimmer attachment, combs and brush, but it is not big enough to hold the shaver itself. Thankfully the shaver is almost the same size as my old one so I can use the travel case that came with that, but if you want something to keep the shaver clean when travelling you would need to buy a case. Overall I think this shaver is good quality and excellent value for money.

A Little Overpriced But Effective
It has been a long time since I have used a Braun shaver. I switched to Remington shavers decades ago but recently they have become painful to use with a new foil style that nicks/nips your face. I decided to go back to Braun and bought the S3. This model is pretty much as I recall Braun shavers. A very average middle range shaver compared to the Remingtons - before they started not nick/nipping your face ( see separate Remington F4 Review ). The Braun has a smaller foil than I am used to. The Braun is not as quick a shaver as I am used to with more passes required. It’s a bit bland in performance and slightly over priced but effective. I bought the S3 when it was allegedly cheap at £50 instead of the RRP of £125. I would have expected more for a £125 shaver. At times it reminds me of a Junior Toolset many blokes will have had as a youngster. A bit of a entry level, safe, starters shaver compared to the full tool kit in the shed you build up in later life. At the moment it is a known name and better than the current range of Remingtons. A big advantage over remington models is the cost of replacement foils. I can get three replacement foils for the Braun for less than the cost of one remington foil. This Braun shaver is rapidly growing on me.

Best razor I’ve ever used
The best razor I’ve ever had, really close shave and honestly the result is like a wet shave. Really happy with my purchase and would highly recommend

Better than rotary razors
Really pleased with this razor, the first time I have tries one with a foil head and have to say it is much better than the very expensive rotary ones I have previously used, Very quick shave lasts well on battery no complaints other that you cannot use whilst plugged in.

An Extremely Effective Shaver
I had not used an electric shaver for some time, but the need to shave regularly and sometimes on a busy schedule made one necessary for me when wet shaving feels like a luxury. The cost of decent wet shave blades these days is also monstrous. I have found this Series 3 to be a really excellent performer that keeps my facial hair well at bay and fits well into a mixed shave routine. Unlike older shavers, where the foil covered the blades that were attached to the shaver, the blades and the foil are all one unit and come off together. They are also replaceable - and may be cheaper (thank you Amazon) than buying a big pack of wet razor blades. You can brush your bristles out our run the head under a tap (I tend to dry shave with the Braun). Performance wise, the Braun deals excellently with my chin and lip hair; on the side of my face, I have to really slow down a bit to get a smoother shave on my back cheeks and around the neck. One thing to say is that I get no razor burn at all as I do have sensitive skin. If you facial hair is a bit longer, just go more slowly. The S3 has not hurt me at all yet and its head is good for 18 months (and that I imagine is if you use it more than I do as like I said, I mix shave). Ergonomically it is hard to drop - fits like a glove in my hand. The only downside is that sometimes when I take the clear plastic foil protector off, the foil/blade head comes off with it and if you have not cleaned it previously, your bristles and dead skin goes all over the place so don't grab the foil protector too hard! Battery life is very good indeed and the pull out side burn blade is also very useful too. All in all a very satisfying piece of kit that just does what it is supposed to do. And isn't that good news!! Highly recommended.

Gives me razor burn and ingrown hairs. Also doesn't even get all hairs.
