Lots of bad reviews is it as good as people say?

I'm using two of these Startech USB 3.1's at the same time with 16TB and 18TB HDDs in them for a total of 4 drives without any problems.

I have a HD with unreparable bad sectors but still running. If I want to replace the HD, is this the best way to go? No need to by new OS?

If by unrepairable you mean SMART Current Pending Sector then offline duplication is NOT recommended. Tested on SDOCK2U33RE with a 1.5TB drive w/ 6 reported errors the duplication was still at 0% after 24 hours. Also be advised this model is NOT capable of retrieving SMART data over USB (newer chipset than older models). You're going to have to use ddrescue or such.

Can I use as docking station

I had the same question. Yes, it can be used as a dock, both bays functioning at the same time with hard drives in each bay. But be advised that this unit cannot actually achieve the advertised 10Gbps speeds -- even if using 2 SSDs in RAID 0 -- because this unit only has a single SATA III controller for both drive bays, which caps the total access speed at 6Gbps.

Can I clone a Samsung 970 evo to any other m2 ssd (intel, hp, ect)?
