Solgar Gentle Iron 20 mg - 180 Veg Capsules (Bisglycinate)

I’ve been very pleased with Solgar Gentle Iron (Iron Bisglycinate) 20 mg. The main reason I chose this one was because it’s designed to be gentle on the stomach, and it really lives up to that claim. Unlike other iron supplements I’ve tried, this one hasn’t caused constipation or stomach discomfort, which makes it much easier to take consistently. The capsules are easy to swallow, and I appreciate that they’re vegan, gluten-free, and clearly well made. The 180-capsule pack is excellent value and lasts a long time, which is ideal for regular supplementation. I’ve been using these iron capsules for a few weeks now and overall I’m really happy with them. I started taking them because I was feeling quite tired and low on energy, and I can already feel a gradual improvement. I haven’t experienced any discomfort or side effects so far, which I’ve had with other iron supplements in the past. These are without doubt gentler than most but I still get stomach trouble using them, where with Spatone I don’t at all. They’re better than most but not the best.

The only iron I’ve found that doesn’t give me a bad stomach it doesn’t even feel like I’m taking them. My iron had returned to a normal rage after 3 months. They are on the bigger side of you struggle to swallow tablets

These are ideal if you have iron issues, never got another blood test but switched to a multivitamin instead due to personal issues which were not the products fault. Recommended.

I have low ferritin and post covid induced PoTS and was hoping that this gentle iron would help to raise my iron levels (and so increase my blood volume & energy), but sadly it didn’t work - for me. I have given it a middling review as I am sensitive to iron supplements - I can’t take liquid Floridix it makes me pass out! This supplement - after just having 2 capsules over 2 days - made my HRV (heart rate variability) drop substantially overnight, and lots of orange overnight stress bars. I also became bloated and not going to loo. My fitbit sleep score and battery charge also plummeted. This reaction is likely specific to someone with PoTS and others may well be fine! But to anyone else with PoTS who has similar sensitivities it might not work. I am back to black pudding and liver pate now !:-(

I have been suffering from fibroids for some time and recently had to have a hysterectomy due my large fibroids since they were causing me to become extremely anemic. Even though, I had built up my hemoglobin levels in order to have surgery; I lost a lot of blood during the surgery and wound up anemic again. A normal healthy woman is supposed to have a hemoglobin level between 12-16 and after surgery mine fell to a 7.1. I was told to eat iron rich foods and in time my hemoglobin levels would rise but I just felt awful that first week that I was home due mostly to the anemia because I would get out of breath easily with exertion and my face looked sallow (brownish yellowish color) and I was extremely tired. I knew I had to take action and ordered Solgar's gentle iron. Unlike, the ferrous sulfate form of iron; iron biglycinate is not constipating at all. And did not cause digestion problems like even ferrous gluconate (like Fergon) can also cause. I went to my OBGYN today to follow up after my surgery and they did a hemoglobin check and mine was 12.6. And they were blown away that I had gotten my numbers up so quickly and how healthy that I looked. I no longer need to take an iron supplement because just eating a healthy diet with iron rich food will maintain and enrich my hemoglobin levels and I would not want to get "iron overload" from having too much iron in my blood since I no longer need to have my levels checked because too much iron can lead to cancer.
