Honeywell Comfort Control Tower Fan (3 Speed Settings, Oscillating 110°, Timer Function, Remote Control, Easy to Use Controls) HO-5500

I’m really, really happy with this. I was sceptical it would be that powerful as my lounge is quite big (about 30m square) but I know Honeywell is the best on earth for fans and air conditioners, etc. and I also have a couple of their desk fans which I love so I thought I’d give it a go. BRILLIANT! As soon as I set it up (very easy installation) and turned it on, there was an immediate jet of strong cool air that easily covered 10m directly. And that was on the lowest setting! I’m delighted as I can’t stand the heat waves we get occasionally but this will deal with that no problem. It’s got a really low level of pleasant white noise as it operates plus the design is beautiful and sleek and very modern. I’ve attached a photo for other prospective purchasers to gauge the size. As I say, it’s robust and tall but fits in seamlessly once you have it in your preferred spot. Comes with an easy to use remote (no battery needed). There are three levels of fan plus oscillation that can be stopped in the direction you prefer. Looks as though it’ll be very easy to clean, too. All in all, I am delighted. Honeywell does it again!

It IS tall for a tower fan, certainly the tallest one I've ever owned. That said, when compared to a pedestal fan its footprint is reasonable (only around 12"), and actually it's probably the same height as a pedestal. It's just a bit of a shock when you first see it! In my opinion, height is just what's missing from smaller units, because unless you sit / sleep on the floor, you don't want the breeze blowing around your feet. You want it blowing over your body, and these are the right height for armchair and bed. I bought two of these, one for the lounge and one for the bedroom. In both locations, noise level is of some importance and I'm happy to report that these are fairly silent, even when oscillating, which is a top issue for me, as every other tower fan I've used made noises when swivelling. The middle speed is just about OK vs sound from my TV set up, but the highest speed will definitely have you reaching for the TV remote and volume adjustment. I'm not interested in the timer feature -- it will only run for up to four hours, not a whole night anyway -- and the breeze and nighttime modes are of no use to me as the change in noise / wind level I find a distraction. But as with the lounge arrangement, I find I can cope with even the highest fan speed noise and still sleep. The only negative is the ridiculous blue LEDs that manufacturers seem to believe that every consumer wants. I put yellow insulation tape over blue LEDs, which results in a pleasantly reserved green glow. I've no idea how long these will last and given that it's almost September, they will be going up in the attic for the winter soon, but they "feel" well made and I'm hopeful they will serve me well for a few years. I'd recommend to a friend. Update 25th May, 2017: Nearly two years on the two fans I purchased are still going strong. These are unlike any tower I've ever bought previously, which proved to be feeble, fragile with no longevity. Granted, these are plastic, but they feel sturdy enough to last me a while yet and they've been packed away and brought back to use twice now. The ultimate test of any product is whether you'd buy an identical replacement when they fail. I wouldn't hesitate to buy these again.... Update 22nd June, 2018: Well, towards the end of 2017 the fan in the lounge started to show its age as it began creaking and groaning on the lowest speed. This year, the one in the bedroom has started to rattle too. Thankfully, although I'm a light sleeper, I am capable of sleeping through it. To cure the noise I give the fan(s) a bit of a shake and it seems to deal with the problem. Usually. The next time I turn them on, there may be no rattle at all. It's totally random, but becoming more frequent. o I purchased two in August, 2015 and only used them a short while before packing away for the winter of that year. o Used all of 2016 without incident. o One started making a death rattle noise in the late summer of 2017. o The other followed suit in the early summer of 2018. So really we're looking at less than two years tip-top use before the mechanisms began to get noisy. A darn shame really, because they are unquestionably the best fans in terms of wind power per footprint I've ever owned. The remote does a nice job and they do cool you down. I guess nothing truly lasts that long these days?

I bought this fan 2 years ago and it is the best fan I have ever bought. It stays in its box for much of the year and I take it out during July/August and use it whenever we have a heatwave. I think it will last me for years to come and was very good value. Although it is an oscillating fan and just moves the air about I actually find it works for me even better than an AC unit. It doesn't require water to be emptied at regular intervals, doesn't get hot at all (even if it's been on for 11 hours) and it hasn't in the last 2 years lost any quality (as I find in AC units which usually deteriorate over the years). Also it is surprisingly cheap to run - my smart meter telling me that over 11 hours of constant use overnight (over the different power levels) I have only spent 14p! The only downside is that the fan can be a bit noisy at night-time. I don't find the night mode very good at all - it isn't any quieter, it just blows the air around for a few secs then goes off for a bit and then starts up again etc but I find that even more annoying than it being on constantly and also because it can be too hot for it not to be on constantly so I just leave it on and wear ear plugs to help me sleep. There are 3 speeds and obviously the highest speed is the loudest but there is not a lot of difference between them with the range from 45db - 54db.

Ok. This is a fan, right?!! Well.. I moved into a new flat in April and am gently kitting it out with lovely stuff and settling to make it a home.. Its a top floor flat, in the roof.. It has been incredibly warm ALL the time (Which I hope will be great come winter!!) which is eased by velux windows and a through breeze... Unfortunately the breeze is inconsistent, hence purchase of a fan.. I already have a standard fan - tall one. Round. A bit tired and weary for a new flat.. I looked at these fans and loved the idea of a remote control, for starters.. There were a few about so I proceeded to research (Across Amazon) a remote control fan.. I daresay, if you're spending in the region of £60 on a fan (I mean, c'mon!! Really?!?) then you have probably had a look about?? No? Well. I did. Its a fair whack in my mind.. Still. I found this fan. I took the plunge.. I actually want two..Maybe even three.. (Lounge, bedroom and daughters bedroom) I have had this on since coming home this evening and finding it delivered to my stairs.. Very easy set - up and actually a very stylish looking fan! FAR better than my old, wobbly, round thing that sounds like the jet engines starting at the runways of Gatwick.... (Ok - I've lied above. Its not been going ALL night yet - I did have to test the timer!! A great plus for the bedroom!!) Ok.. The fan. It generates a very good breeze - naturally the best on the highest of the three settings. A lovely breeze that does what every fan should.. The differences.. Well. The fan itself is stationary. The breeze comes from a rotating central column. Looks (The Nuts!) Great!! This can naturally be stopped to just blast air at you if need be.. You don't even have to get up - All done on the remote!! Yeah!! Remote!! Did I mention!! Look. Its a fan. It moves air. This one looks very smart. Is remote controlled. Its actually VERY quiet in comparison to 'old rattler' and I will be ordering my second (And third!) for sure as it will be ideal for the bedroom.. Currently set on what I am referring to as the 'breeze' setting.. Its great!! A varied spread of strength of blow!! Like having the window open and the much sought after through breeze that I cannot rely on.. My saviour!! Price? Maybe excessive but then I am used to a £25 office looking fan of old.. Quality? Yeah. Its all there! Functionality? Oh yeah. Sure is, with just a touch of thoroughly modern style. I bought a 'Used' one (As it was cheaper!) and would not hesitate to chose this from Amazon if you want to save a few pennies... Did I mention, Im ordering two more - Not concerned about paying full whack either if I need to but will race ya for the cheaper ones if I must!! Worth every penny if you have a very warm place in the summer.. Well done Honeywell! A Class!! Hope this helps anyone - Ive gone on a bit, just so I have a chance to grab the cheaper ones while you read this!!

Bought this in summer 2019 during the late summer heatwave where I had the pleasure of using this fan all of two times (typical that the heatwave disappeared soon after purchase!). I’d considered buying a very expensive, popular branded fan and heater however I couldn’t justify the cost for something that essentially moves air around. So in comes this tower fan - some reviews were mixed saying that it was loud, the fan broke after not long, etc. I’ve not had any issues with this fan and I love it. The fan is quite tall but doesn’t take up too much space. The settings are great - my favourite is the oscillating breeze setting on low, I think it actually helps me sleep because it’s like a gentle heartbeat/rhythm. It is NOT loud and I’m a very light sleeper. The higher the setting the louder the fan, but even the medium setting isn’t too loud (I actually haven’t had to use the highest setting yet, I find medium sufficient). The remote is really handy but I don’t tend to use it as I set the timer up on the fan before bed and it turns itself off when done. Also the buttons on the remote don’t light up so I can’t see what I’m doing at night! Speaking of buttons, the settings on the fan itself are great BUT they light up in bright blue and stay like that all night. I haven’t found a setting to stop this and I absolutely can’t sleep with light shining at me, so I cover it up with a folded flannel or tshirt. The only other bug bear is that the buttons make a noise when you touch them. As I said, it doesn’t matter much for me as I set the fan up before bed, but maybe something for couples to bear in mind. Overall I absolutely love this fan and so glad it works perfectly after being tucked away for 6 months. It keeps me cool despite not being an air conditioner/cooler. Please try this before you spend silly amounts of money on a fancy brand!

I've had this fan for 3 years of heavy use, I work nights and I have this on in my room when I'm sleeping during the day. the most useful thing about this is the remote control, being able to turn it down or off from bed is a godsend - although sometimes you have to wave it around to get a signal it works great really. I have had smaller older honeywell tower fans, this one creates a surprising amount of wind. An example for you, it's 27 degrees outside and I have it pointed at me about 2 meters away on the lowest setting with the window open, I actually feel slightly cold. All of the extra features work fine, I don't really use the Oscillating function - but when it is on it doesn't make a great deal of noise, the fan does slightly swivel on the base without it turned on, so you can point it in a different direction without having to pick it up too much too. the sleep mode I don't really use, it turns off and on and you get little bursts of air. I can see why some people would like it, but I mainly just find it annoying and prefer to just leave it on the normal mode. it also has a timer button where you can have it on for 1hr,2,3 and 4hrs. I never use it because I'll prob just wake up hot and have to turn it on again. I can see why it would be handy if you wanted to save power while cooling a baby's room while they fall to sleep or something. In terms of noise, at the highest setting it is quite loud, but not really that much louder than a gaming PC tower with a lot of fans. Sometimes I feel my ears are ringing when im trying to sleep. It is possible to sleep with it on full depending on how heavy of a sleeper you are. It is slightly noisy but is better than failing to sleep in a puddle of sweat on very hot days. A necessary evil in my opinion, just a matter of getting used to it. I find that the lowest setting is powerful enough for most days. In summary is it the best tower fan you can get in terms of power and functionality, without spending £300-400 on an air conditioning unit. good and sturdy and not easy to knock over, going strong after 3 years of heavy use. would recommend it to anyone looking for a fan with a remote.

Surprised to see that so many people seem to have had problems with this tower fan. Bought mine back in July 2016 and it's still going strong after 3 Summers of heavy usage (I'm at home all day and tend to have the fan running constantly throughout any very warm to hot days). I usually find the lowest intensity setting is sufficient and the fan is very quiet indeed when used this way, doesn't interfere with watching television or listening to podcasts. On level 2 or 3, I do need to push the volume button on anything I'm trying to pay attention to in order to still make everything out clearly, but that's not a huge issue as it's literally only a handful of days that we usually find it hot enough here in the UK for a higher setting than the first to be necessary. Oscillation is good, doesn't seem to add to noise, has a fairly wide sweep. I chose a tower fan as I have a dog who is as highly excitable as she is impulsive and wanted something free-standing but less vulnerable to being knocked over by a crazed, flying dog than a regular fan on a stand! Thus far, no incidents of that nature; this unit is actually quite heavy which made it quite a workout for someone as slight as me to unpack and lift while attaching to the base part, but it's also very robust and I only move it twice a year, so it's a worthwhile trade-off for me. Remote control still works, too. I'd buy another and may well do so now the price is sub-£60 sometimes.

Il pacco è arrivato nei tempi previsti anche se un po lunghi. La confezione non era proprio ben messa ma il prodotto era integro. Funziona benissimo ed è anche abbastanza silenzioso, durante la notte non da fastidio. Di solito lo imposto a velocità 2, emette una piacevole brezza e con il telecomando si può impostare lo spegnimento automatico. Sono davvero contento dell'acquisto

Hoy lo he recibido y una vez montada la base lo he probado y sometido a todo lo que dan de sí sus funciones: el resultado extraordinario. Tiene potencia en su ventilación más fuerte con un nivel de ruido bastante contenido. A medida que bajas el nivel se atenúa el ruido. A nivel medio es perfectamente soportable. La oscilación funciona perfectamente y aunque estés alejado del aparato el aire te llega y produce una agradable sensación de bienestar. En el modo brisa y noche te llega el aire sin necesidad de tener el ventilador encima. He adquirido dos unidades y si bien es cierto que llegan con enchufe inglés, adquieres adaptadores por 3€ en cualquier tienda de electricidad. Amazon debería avisar de esta contingencia porque el producto viene de Edimburgo. De todos modos este detalle no le resta valor al ventilador que está muy bien acabado y con una muy buena relación calidad precio.

Un'ottima torretta di ventilazione. Meno male che l'avevo, altrimenti quest'estate sarebbe andata peggio. l'effetto 'brezza' mi ha sollevato da tante serate torride. Silenziosa e discreta. Un eccellente acquisto consigliabile a chi cerca un oggetto bello e funzionale!

Nos lo enviaron con enchufe inglés, así que tocó ir a por un adaptador, Amazon debería revisar que los productos que vende están adaptados al país del comprador. El ventilador está bien no mete mucho ruido y se puede usar para dormir.

Il prodotto mi piace molto ed è conforme a quanto descritto. Ha una bella altezza, esteticamente non è male e per essere un ventilatore il rumore è assolutamente sopportabile. Funziona bene e il telecomando è molto comodo.Spedizione ottima. L'unico appunto che vorrei fare è che doveva essere specificato meglio che ha la spina inglese perché pur avendo letto la descrizione proprio non lo avevo notato. Ovviamente il tutto è risolvibile con un adattatore, ma quando ho scartato il prodotto è stata una sorpresa. Concludendo consiglio il prodotto.
