will this stop the door opening too far, and is the stop position adjustable?

It will let the door open about 120 or 140 degrees and closes at a gentle rate, easy to fit normally on the central rail, look quite smart and it’s not noisy at all like a Queen spring!

The description says "The body is 32mm wide by 117mm in height, with the 'closer arm' being 150mm."

Does anyone know how lubricate this device? at the moment after a few weeks mine squeaks loudly. i have tried wd40 but it makes no difference. thanks.

WD-40 is not a lubricant. There are better choices for this job. Thin oil, Plusgas, 3 in 1

Can I use this to stop a door from slamming?

YES!!!! Yes you can. Ignore all these idiot comments saying no. Just fit it to the other side of the door so that it gives pressure against the close. Balance the pressure you want to get the soft close you desire.
