My favourite steamer
I've had one of these in the past which I bought from a supermarket but they don't sell them anymore. I've had it for years (quite possibly 5+) and over that time I lost the clear plastic insert and the little button at the top came off and went missing. (I've moved house multiple times with this so those parts could be absolutely anywhere.)The old one is still useable, I just pop the veg in the water and basically boil it in the microwave. But I decided it's probably time to get a new one. It's pretty easy to clean (the plastic clear bit that you put the veg in is irritating to clean though if I'm being honest. Broccoli bits can get caught between the gaps).Looks, it's fine. It just looks like a tupperware box. It isn't going to look incredible but it does the job.Honestly, I love this veg steamer it's so much easier to use than the tower steamer, easier to clean than one too and takes up less room. The only plus for the tower steamers is they can cook more veg at once but if you're cooking for one or maybe two people you'll be fine.

Cooks frozen sprouts and broccoli well
My review is about the 2.4 litre Sistema Microwave Steamer with Removable Steamer Basket. As a regular user of the Sistema noodle bowl (which is very versatile and useful), I was excited to learn about this steamer as I was looking for a quick and easy way to cook frozen vegetables (mainly broccoli and Brussel sprouts). This product works very well for that purpose and is easy to clean in the dishwasher. I wasn't sure which size to go for, so just went with the 2.4 litre version - this is ample for one person as you can fit a really generous portion in there. It would also suit two people but the portions won't be as generous. I think the smallest option would be a bit small for one person who wants a healthy portion. In regards to how to use it when cooking frozen sprouts and frozen broccoli, I just put all the veg into the steamer basket, add a little bit of water, put the lid on, open the vent and just cook it for 10 minutes on full power. The sprouts cook this way really well (I like them quite soft) - the broccoli cooks well enough too, but the sprouts really do cook well this way. When it's done and drained I like to put all the veg back in the tub, add some salt/pepper/butter (or olive oil) and give it all a good shake before serving.I would recommend this product as it makes it really easy to steam vegetables in the microwave (which is supposedly the best way to cook them in terms of keeping their nutrients). It's so much easier than boiling (which loses nutrients) and you don't have to worry about it boiling over. The only negative point is that you basically have to guess how long to cook stuff for in order to get it how you like it. I tend to cook the same stuff each day so it's not so bad. But I'm sure the more you use it, the easier guessing cooking times will get.UPDATE:Over a year has passed and I now own four of these containers. They are incredibly handy for steaming vegetables but they are also really useful for other stuff - I often use mine for salads, or cooked pasta which will be reheated in the microwave. I also use them for storing other stuff in the fridge, like cooked chicken - just remove the basket and it's basically a plastic tub like any other (although probably not air/water tight. So for all the uses it has, I think these are great and even after more than a year, they are still in good condition (I've run them through the dishwasher countless times too).

Almost as good as my last one
Like other buyers I have a bit of an issue with the lid fitting on this.It seems far more flimsy than my round Systema steamer and the inner seal is constantly falling out when the lid is lifted...bit of an annoyance if it drops out when you're in the middle of steaming food and need to check it.If the seal is put in upside down it the lid doesn't fit and one of the clips on mine refused to close even when the seal is in place. However, saying that it doesn't seem to affect the cookingThe steaming basket is a good size and can take several full portions of veg at a time. I start in batches so do carrots that take longer first - steam for a few mins then add sprouts, green beans etc and things that take less time. It's staining a bit with the colour from the carrots but is very effective, saves such a lot of time v. boiling and the veg tastes great. It's very efficient, easy to clean, and has a great amount of space inside, easily enough to do veg for 4I have lots of Systema containers and this is the first one that I haven't given 5 stars to as a result of the thinner lid which is an annoying faff to try and fit onI guess I would probably buy it again but would hope that by then they will have read the reviews and adjusted the lid so that it is more sturdy like the one on their smaller round version which I absolutely love

Does the job absolutely perfectly for the price.
After reading lots of people's reviews on here about it losing stability when taking it out of the microwave, people burning themselves or saying that it made their food taste strange, I was a little weary of the purchase, but for the cheap price, I didn't really think it would be too much bother if it wasn't very good. After using and washing the steamer numerous times, I have to say I am very impressed. My veg (mainly broccoli, cauliflower and mushrooms) come out perfect, still with a little crunch, no wilting and in one piece. No strange taste either, just nice, fresh tasting veg.I have not found the steamer to be flimsy, nor for it to lose it's shape when hot. Obviously, as you would imagine, it is hot when you take it out of the microwave - anything is! So there is a risk of burning or scalding from the steam, but I have never had any issues and after 6 minutes in a microwave, I can quite happily remove it with my bare hands. The size is great, although probably wouldn't suit a family as I think it would be too small and would require numerous rounds in the microwave depending on how much veg you eat.

A bit of a mixed bag
On one hand I feel I should praise the effort, because availability of BPA free containers is so limited and this one has very good design and features, and as such, this container is a must have in every kitchen (I honestly believe at some point in near future we will be looking back at BPA and phthalates in and around food the same way we think of lead and mercury now). It has epic steam tray, it doesn't stain, without a steam tray it makes for a nice, deep container to repackage your ready meals into and despite its big size it's designed to fit perfectly on a turn table of a standard 17 litre + microwave. On the other hand it's a bit of a fail for use with any food that needs 10+ minutes cooking time. Because of the hard plastics used, this container heats like crazy. Way more than any container I have ever had. I'd even say it could be dangerous to use by kids. It gets hot. And I mean HOT. If you take the typical floppy, thin, food tray that usually comes with supermarket ready meals as a benchmark, at least after 10 minutes + 1 minute standby you can safely lift those trays up and remove them from microwave by the corners without burning your fingers. The Sistema container after 10 minutes reaches such extreme temperatures that it's impossible to hold it by any part of the container. The see through top has four handles on the corners and is fastened to the container with four clips, but the lid becomes very soft in high temperatures despite top vent and it bends easily. And as you hold the container with roughly 5 pounds of boiling food or liquid inside by two corners of the softened lid it often lets the scorching air/steam out of the corners thus burning your fingers even further.Forget about "cool to touch stem" and marketing blurb, know its shortcomings, never ever, ever, and I mean ever, try to lift it with just two out of four clips fastened (they will fail), don't let kids use it without oven mitts and it will be perfect. You will love it. You will have to. It's not like there is a lot of choice of BPA free kitchenware anyway.

Ótima qualidade. RECOMENDO
Produto muito bom. Bem acabado, grande e de fácil limpeza. Os fechos são exagerados e as vezes um pouco duros de fechar, mas não é um problema que incomode.

Bigger than expected and very quick shipping!
My partner has one of these and I've fallen in love with it! Super easy way to get some veggies in your diet without having to fiddle around with stove top pot steamers or those Ziploc steamer bags. I ordered this thinking it would be the same size as my partners and... Turns out they have the small and not the medium! This thing is huge, about the size of my head, but I'm not at all disappointed! Fits more than enough broccoli for two+ heaping sides and is perfect size for steaming lots of veggies for stir fry. In my opinion, this is a great size for an individual that steams lots of veggies as a whole meal, or a couple/small family that wants to add a little bit of veggies to a meal. Heck, the smaller size allows for more than enough side veggies for two people. I adore how easy to use and clean these steamers are, and how durable they are as well! Hard plastic all around, nothing thin or flimsy.Additionally, it arrived way sooner than estimated! Ordered Sept. 11 and was estimated to arrive Sept. 24 - Oct. 9. Arrived Sept. 20th!

Godare broccoli och blomkål
Grönsakerna blir betydligt godare jämfört med kastrull. Alltid samma resultat. Använder den varje dag och äter därför mycket mer grönsaker än tidigare.
