The Nation s Favourite bedtime story is being brought to life in an all star beautiful adaptation of the best-selling book by Julia Donaldson and Axel Scheffler. The Guffalo debuts on BBC One this Christmas and comes to DVD in time for Easter 2010. The film's all-star voice cast features Robbie Coltrane as the Gruffalo; Helena Bonham Carter as the narrator; Rob Brydon as the Snake; James Corden as the Mouse; John Hurt as the Owl and Tom Wilkinson as the Fox. The Gruffalo tells the magical tale of a mouse who takes a walk through the woods in search of a nut. Encountering three predators who all wish to eat him a fox, an owl and a snake the plucky mouse has to use his wits to survive, creating an imaginary monster who then turns out to be only too real.

Director's Cut is worth a shot.
Very slick compared to those old Italian 'found footage' types that hit our screens back in the 1970's.Gory of course (what do you expect from Roth) but beautifully filmed and to a younger audience who are unaware of those marvelous exploitive cannibal films a plot that is frightening and nightmarish. Perhaps the 'rawness' is lost compared to those grainy early films but a pleasure to watch on a big screen and crisp dvd format ---- those were the bad old days, although pleasurable.Nothing new here for enthusiastic viewers of those old video nasties. At least one scene is copied from Romero's 'Day Of The Dead' and most of the gruesome gore is well photographed as is the scenery. Very slow build up, almost dropped the film ---- how naive the students were to be drawn into the debacle of protest in the Amazon jungle. However once the real action started the film delivered violence, gore and cannibalism. At the end (mid credits) a sequence hinted at a further film in the future but thankfully that hasn't come. Perhaps a young gifted writer/director could add a special take to a new version in the genre but I think I'm done and Eli Roth has moved on to fry other fish.Took a risk buying this version (one of dozens on various sites) : Directors Cut of 97 minutes and English subtitles, plus commentaries by Roth and cast/crew as extras. The version reddish with girl's screaming face held by hands on the dvd jacket --- that one. As Stephen King said "You can't look away".

One of the goriest films I've ever seen. Very good though!
Gawd, where do I start? The Green Inferno is so disturbing! (in a good way of course). I've just closed my mouth and am not wide-eyed with shock anymore as it took me a few moments to realise what frightening (but fictional) events I'd just viewed, it's that believable and that horrific. I bloody loved it though, lol. And it's not real, thank goodness. It looks very real though so I'm very impressed with the art department and special effects crew to create scenes so believable that you want to look away, but can't, as the suspense encourages you to continue watching to see what happens next because you just HAVE to know!Don't watch if squeamish because this film is VERY graphic and extremely gory, and yes you will vomit if you have a sensitive disposition. If you're a fan of extreme horror and have a cast iron stomach however then you will absolutely love it, lol. Littered with jet black humour in places which balances the horrifying moments perfectly and with strong, quality acting ability of most actors and actresses in this film and with the awesome Eli Roth (who made the brilliant Hostel film too) behind the camera and who wrote the screenplay I was amazed at how realistic some of the terrifying scenes were so top marks there for convincing effects. I'm used to seeing hardcore films but at one stage I almost had to rub my eyes as I couldn't believe what I was watching, and the sound effects, eurghhh, oh my God, so horrible to listen to.I won't give away precise details to spoil it for anybody who hasn't yet seen this film but I was pleasantly surprised to see one or two very touching and lovely moments in it for the lead actress who finds a friend who wants to help her when she needs it the most. With graphic images throughout the film that'll probably stay embedded within your memory for quite some time after you've viewed it, this one really definitely isn't for the faint of heart among viewers. It's put me off ever venturing into any jungle anytime soon I can tell you, lol!Great film, superb special effects and the scenery is breathtakingly beautiful too.

ONE OF THE BEST MOVIES I'VE EVER SEEN!!!
Well, where to start? Extremely well done movie!!!! At the very beginning, I thought "yet another Save Our Planet plot"... Yet a few minutes forward and the story takes an unexpected turn and carries on surprising you with many twists. WARNING: the film is rated 18 and I strongly suggest that you'll stick to this restriction. You MUST have a strong stomach to watch it continuously. Yes, many movies are bloody but this one is extremely drastic and definitely not for kids. I would be careful with teenagers too. Now, you might think that describing the film as "bloody", means a lot of fighting, screaming and similar nonsense, which usually puts you off. NO SUCH THING! The "bloody" meaning has a unique definition in this movie. You have to trust me (please do). I can't explain it further without spoilers and even a small spoiler would lower the impact of this piece of art on you. There is a trailer but, unlike other trailers, it does not show you the best bits. So if you like the trailer, even a little bit, the whole content will make you very satisfied. That's enough from me. In one sentence: get yourself comfy and enjoy the show.
