Easy to apply straight after cleaning while your boots are still wet. Once dry, water does bead on the surface which I think will help to some extent in light showers but this won't make non-waterproof boots waterproof. Eventually they will soak through.

I don't often write a review but I am very impressed with this waterproof spray. Sprayed onto my favorite comfy walking boots and it definitely did the job of waterproofing no more leaky wet boots. Very happy customer. I highly recommend this item

Great works well

Finally tested this with biblical, end of the world type rain last night on my motorbike. I had previously sprayed it on: Nylon jacket Old Gortex trousers Non waterproof gloves Non waterproof steel toecap shoes Surprising results: The hydrophobic claims you see in pictures are not my experience at all. The water doesn't sit and bead up on anything I sprayed it on. Maybe a light spray from a water bottle might, but not actual rain. That said, it did stop penetration on certain things.... The jacket, which let in some water before in the sleeves and took days to dry, seemed to fair the best. It is a cheap Chinese nylon winter coat which is better than expensive motorcycle jackets at keeping me warm and dry. The expensive Gortex trousers let in water badly, although I might have worn them out in the 20+ years I've had them. Didn't see any improvement on these, other than they dried out quicker than before. The shoes aren't waterproof but are of a kind of robust material and surprisingly kept my socks dry. Normally these day all day to dry but a vast improvement. My gloves were ringing wet, but these are old summer gloves that were given to me so God knows how old they are. Didn't expect them to survive rain like that. It was like they came out of a river. I was literally ringing them like a dishcloth when I got home, lol. In summary, it's not a total waterproofer, but against that kind of hailstones, where the cars had to slow right down because no one could see anything, I didn't expect it to be a miracle. I'm just glad that this time, after way more rain than ever, I didn't have to spend a whole day drying my stuff out and have a horrible damp mouldy smell. So it's a win here. Not sure how long it will last and if it's cost efficient as I sprayed most of the bottle and haven't tested it long term yet.

To get the best from Nikwax, you need to understand how it works, it being a 'Water Based' Waterproofer (How does that work???) Nikwax MUST be applied to an unfatigued, clean, damp material, i.e., Gor-Tex. with no dirt or soapy residue present. Once the material dries completely, only the waterproofing element of the Nikwax remains and it is this that repels any moisture/wet. Each time you wear the boots (or whatever), a little of the Nikwax protection is worn off by abrasion or wear and tear and as such, you need to repeat the Reproofing process accordingly. This could be as little as every six weeks for daily walking/hiking through wet terrain, or sooner as you notice dampness, i.e., on your socks. If the Gore-Tex membrane on your boots is aged and worn out, don't expect miracles. Gore-Tex does have a lifespan. To conclude, IMHO it does work but with limitations and only for so long!

Quick delivery sourced from maker. Reasonable price for good quality product. Needs to be reapplied on a reasonably regular basis to keep waterproofing. Easy to apply but worth wearing gloves. Instructions clear.

Edito varios meses despues para aclarar que a mi hace unos meses me costo 11,13 (envio incluido) el de 300 ml con el vendedor William Hunter Equestrian, totalmente confiable. Digo esto por que tras impermeabilizar casi todo mi calzado y quererme comprar otro, veo que este vebdedor ya no lo vende, y en su lugar lo hacen otros por casi el doble de precio. Que le den a los impermeabilizantes de Geox y de supermercado! Esto si que es un buen impermeabilizante! Tras usar varios impermeablizantes mediocres, me informe por internet para intentar conseguir uno bueno, que hiciera bien su trabajo, pues bien, durante esa tarea surgio en varias ocasiones esta marca por lo que tras investigar mas profundamente sobre ella, leyendo comentarios de usuariuos y demás me dispuse a comprarlo. Tienen muchisimos productos y muy especificos, yo escoji este, "Nikwax Tela y cuero", pero tambien hay otro muy parecido Nikwax nubuck and suede, en español, Nikwax nubuck y gamuza. Aunque no lo probe, llegue a la conclusion tras hablar por mail con un represante de Nikwax que sirve para practicamente lo mismo. Existe este producto en formato esponja y pistola, yo escojí la segunda opcion, mas que nada por que viene en mas cantidad 300ml, y sale proporcionalmente mas barato, la version de esponja se vende exclusivamente en el formato de 125ml. Antes de nada probad en un sitio pequeño y poco visible del calzado, ya que a veces oscurece demasiado. Si es para trabajar, hacer senderismo, jardineria os dara igual, pero si es para calzado de vestir seria un fastidio muy grande que se os oscureciese demasiado. Consejos basados en experiencia propia y en las propias instrucciones. Calzados muy absorventes sin ningun tratamiento de resistencia al agua: -Primero humedecer SI o SI el zapato, con un trapo humedo humedecer bien todo el zapato. Si el zapato no es nuevo o esta muy sucio, limpiarlo con el gel del calzado de la misma marca. La propia publicidad dice que la suciedad hace que el producto pierda eficacia, ya que esta absorve la humedad y esta pasa al interior del calzado. - Agitar muy bien. - Rociar abundantemente y lo mas parejo posible desde unos 5 centimetros. Dejar el zapato quieto durante unos dos minutos y absorber lo restante de la superficie con un trapo limpio. - Dejar secar al aire, sin exponerlo al sol, ni a estufas. Para calzado de cuero liso poco absorvente, o con tratamientos de resistencia al agua, que no funcionan como debieran. -Primero humedecer SI o SI el zapato, con un trapo humedo humedecer MUY BIEN todo el zapato. Si el zapato no es nuevo o esta muy sucio, limpiarlo con el gel del calzado de la misma marca. La propia publicidad dice que la suciedad hace que el producto pierda eficacia, ya que esta absorve la humedad y esta pasa al interior del calzado. - Agitar muy bien. - Rociar abundantemente y lo mas parejo posible desde unos 5 centimetros. Dejar el zapato quieto durante unos CINCO minutos durante los cuales cada par de minutos remover las gotas de condesacion con los dedos por todo el calzado, a los cinco minutos pasar un trapo limpio y seco para absorver lo restante. - Tras 15 mins volver a rociar solo la zona de la puntera, llegando a cubrir hasta donde empiezan los cordones, osea todo la zona que toca los dedos, y parte del empeine. durante los 5 minutos de esperar remover con los dedos de vez en cuando y retirar otra vez con trapo seco y humedo. - Dejar secar al aire, sin exponerlo al sol, ni a estufas. Seguramente mi segundo bote de este producto me lo compre con esponja, la pistola funciona muy bien para el calzado muy absorvente pero para el calzado poco absorvente me imagino que ira mucho mejor el de esponja ya que asi al mismo tiempo que rocias el producto lo estarias frotando contra el cuero, personalmente me parece que asi absorveria mucho mas. Nikwax fabrica produtos sin disolventes ni otros productos quimicos muy toxicos y muy perjudiciales para el cuero, que llega a resecarlo y cuartearlo y ademas es mucho mas efectivo. Cuando lo compre, coji una pequeña hoja de papel, marque con un lapiz justo la mitad, doble, y en una lado puse Nikwax, y en otro Geox (todavia me queda mas de la mitad de esa porqueria) rocie en cada lado un poco de producto y espere a que secase. Puse la hoja debajo del grifo y los dos repelian perfectamente el agua, tras pasarle la mano mojada por encima a las dos mitades lo volvi a meter debajo del grifo, Nikwax funcionaba como el primer momento, Geox sin embargo habia desaparecido por arte de magia y la hoja se empapaba.... Mientras un produto penetraba y quedaba incrustado en la hoja, el otro simplemente dejaba una fina y ridicula capa por encima que se eliminaba a la minima. Ah, se me olvidaba tambien lo probe en algun calzado de tela que uso en invierno y que a la minima calaba, y aunque no es 100% efectivo, ya que este producto no esta hecho para impermeabilizar tela, impermeabiliza lo suficiente como para llegar la mayoria de los dias con los pies secos. TOTALMENTE RECOMENDADO.
