Good, cheap rotary waffle maker!
I wasn't going to buy this because I read the negative reviews saying how fragile this is first but thought I'd give it a punt anyway. I'm really glad I did. While it's not the most robust thing I've seen (let's face it, it's not going to match up to catering standards), it arrived fully intact and looks really nice. The handle is quite light to the touch and I can see that it might be easily broken, and the casing is plastic too, which I thought might be a bit of an issue but on using it, it's fine.Compared to my old sandwich maker that has swappable inserts, this is far superior. The unit heats up really quickly and a couple of sprays of cooking oil before use means it's easily cleaned.I followed a couple of recipes I've seen posted on the reviews here and filled the bottom to just level, closed the lid and turned it over, expecting some sort of flood but there was no mess and 4 minutes later I had some lovely, crispy and fluffy waffles.Time will tell how this goes but yes, it's plastic and is probably left to the adults to play with.

Waffle Breakfasts American Style!!!
Excellent Waffle Iron. I bought this after a recent trip the US when I was enjoying waffles for breakfast and wanted to try them at home. I liked the look of this waffle iron and like the fact you can turn it on it's side and fold the handle for storage. The iron takes about 2 minutes to heat up and with a quick brush of oil you're ready to go. I also purchased some Belgian Waffle mix on amazon that took a few minutes to mix together and then poured the batter into the iron - cooked for 2-3 minutes on one side and then flipped to the other side for a further 2-3 minutes before lifting the handle to see a perfectly cooked waffle! It was non-stick so lifted easily out just using a butter knife and it was very easy to clean. Even if you accidentally add too much batter and it over flows there's a drip tray underneath and with a quick wipe once the iron has cooled down it's cleaned and ready to go again.I went for the red colour as I think it looks quite retro and looks nice on the kitchen worktop. Kids are loving weekend breakfast treats now. So quick and easy to use. Very happy and would certainly recommend!!

Great waffle maker
We've had this waffle maker for a few weeks now, and so far we love it. The recipes that come with it are pretty good. We've tried the basic recipe, buttermilk waffles and chocolate chip waffles. The chocolate chip recipe is our favourite so far. The recipe uses beaten egg whites, so the waffles are light and fluffy. The only issue with the recipes is that none of them indicate how many waffles they will make! We found that the basic recipe makes 4, the buttermilk and chocolate chip waffle recipes make 5-6. It's also a bit of a guess how much mixture to use per waffle - if you use too much it leaks out.The waffle maker itself is easy to use. It only takes around 3 minutes to cook a waffle, and it's ready to make another straight away. We haven't had to spray oil on it, the waffles have come out easily so far. It can be a bit of a faff to clean though if the mix gets in any of the cracks or screw indents.

Love. It. Big.
I. Love. It.I takes a minute or two to cook gorgeous, crispy waffles. I did a lot of research before buying a waffle maker, as I specifically wanted one that made deep waffles (I wasn't too concerned about round or square). This one certainly fits the bill, with the waffles around 1" deep, evenly crispy, with deep waffles to soak up butter and syrup - my maple syrup bill has gone through the roof! The recipe makes about 5 waffles, so I make a 1-egg batch (half the recipe) and that lasts me for breakfasts over the weekend. I do reduce the amount of baking powder to around half that of the recipe - trust me on this. I've experimented a little with the flavourings, so sometimes add cinnamon to the batter, and occasionally replace some of the flour with 50g fine cornmeal. I haven't done savoury waffles, and have no interest in doing so.The main bit also rotates, so takes up a lot less space in the cupboard than I'd anticipated - really happy about that!I also took it to my family Christmas, and made a monster batch of batter. It is so quick that I was able to churn out waffles for everyone (five adults and two children), so there was no long wait and everyone had breakfast together - I was really happy with this, as I thought it would be a lot more waiting around to produce enough for everyone. There is no timer - you need to use judgement on when the waffles are ready. When I put the batter in, the green 'ready' light goes off. Generally, when it comes back on again, and has finished producing the majority of steam, then it is ready.Don't overfill - the waffles grow into monsters! Not too much of a hassle if that does happen, as it is easy to clean the outside (but wait until it is cool - don't try and wipe off wet batter!).Just wanted to write an update 5 years after buying this. STILL GOING STRONG!
