Easy Cooking
The Tefal ActiFry 2 in 1 Fryer is an awesome must have kitchen gadget. Just bear in mind that there are only two adults that I cook for so I don't know if it would be sufficient for larger families. The more you get used to using it the more you realise what you can do with it. Don't think of it as a healthy chip fryer, it is that but it can do so much more. It does frozen chips/fries/curly fries equally well and also home made chips/fries etc. I've found that you don't really need any oil on frozen chips/fries and I've also found if you are cooking let's say chips in the bottom and onion rings on the top then leave the top plate out until it is time for the onion rings to go in, I find that if you don't the chips won't be as crispy as I like them to be. You're looking at about twenty minutes or so for thinner things like frozen fries and about thirty minutes for thicker chips. I hardly ever use the oven any more which takes an age to heat up and an age to cool down and also you're heating an area way bigger than you need for the food you're cooking. The fryer has quite a large footprint and isn't quiet but I'd say it's quieter than my fan assisted oven plus there is no heating up and cooling down period so I'd assume this will cost less on the electric bill. It is a breeze to clean - it truly is non stick and everything comes out or off with ease. This is one of those products that makes me wish I'd bought it years ago. You want sausage sandwiches? Frozen sausage on the top plate 15 minutes boom! No mess and far less smell than frying or grilling. Once you start experimenting you'll find plenty of ways to cook different foods, it's just a new way of cooking that is so easy. I wouldn't be without my Tefal 2 in 1 ActiFry. Absolutely love it
This is my 2nd Actifry and I am so glad I decided to upgrade! I had the original 1kg version for about 6 years before it finally gave up. Considering I used it probably twice a week I really wasn't upset that it died as I feel I got fair use out of it. It is for that reason I was quite happy to pay the top end for a replacement. I can trust that I will get my monies worth.Chips take about 45 minutes which is fine with a bit of forward planning. Buy yourself a leaver action chip cutter as well, you won't regret it!I decided to opt for the 2-in-1 for a few reasons. Firstly the larger 1.5kg pan was a definite as even when cooking chips for 2 the bigger pan enables the potato to move about more and not get crushed by the rotating paddle. Secondly the idea of being able to cook something to accompany my chips in the same device really appealed to me. Thirdly my old Actifry kept cooking when the timer ran out whereas this one now turns off when the time is up, which is handy if you forget or just don't get there in time for whatever reason. The paddle has been redesigned from my original Actifry to be flat rather than a chunky hollow paddle where chip crumbs can gather inside. This makes cleaning a lot easier.Since getting this Actifry I have been determined to try it out for more than just potato based foods. Saturday morning was a fry up. 8 sausages in the bottom pan with a touch of oil (not form the measuring spoon) set the timer to 20 minutes and selected the 2 in 1 function to cook 6 bacon medallions for the last 8 minutes. It really worked well. I was amazed at how much fat was left behind by the sausages and how well they had cooked all over. The 8 minute timer for the bacon can be adjusted if you want but for me I used it as a cue to get the toast in, beans in the microwave and fry a quick egg or two. It made the breakfast routine a lot more straight forward as well as stopping that dreadfully messy fat spatter all over the hob! Tasted great! Best of all is then just popping everything in the dishwasher and forgetting about it. It is also worth mentioning that the house didn't smell of fry up for the rest of the morning either. You decide if that is a good or bad thing. With a bit of searching you can find videos and websites with all sorts of recipes. My next recipe to try is the teriyaki chicken form the included recipe bookAlthough the Actifry says it will do 6 portions of chips I would say you would be better to think 4 servings. But then maybe I am a pig. But seriously I would say the top pan would do meat for 4 servings comfortably. 6 Adults would be a stretch. As others have mentioned the clearance isn't huge so things like large pieces of chicken will catch but chicken breasts, steaks and chops will be no problem.I can wholeheartedly recommend this Actifry to anyone looking to eat better or to simplify their kitchen. I already have to a friend who bought the original Actifry after my previous recommendation. If you are not looking to cook other foods at the same time as your chips then don't bother with the 2 in 1, save a few quid and consider the 1.5kg express.

Every day use
I felt compelled to leave a review because of my previous devotion to the Philips airfryer XL. After struggling for a while with the touch screen it became time to put the old fellow to bed. I couldn't afford another so spent many hours trawling reviews and websites trying to find something that matched up. I use this for everything, the oven only gets turned on when I'm making cake or pizza. So quick cooking and convenience is top of my list of needs. I cook for two adults and two children so a large capacity is an absolute must. I settled on the actifry because of the 2in1 function as I thought it'd definitely be useful. My main concerns was the constant spinning, and the less powerful output. Firstly the capacity is amazing. It fits much more than the airfryer. And cleanliness?! Well it's a revelation. My airfryer could get grotty in an instant and was a true pain to clean. With my actifry I just clean it with a kitchen towel and it's perfect. You can take the inner spinner out as if you're cooking your own coated chicken fish or whatever it'll just destroy it. Just remember to give them a manual stir every now and again. Or just put them on the 2 in 1. It is not as powerful, but I'd say add between 10 and 20% onto the cooking time. So worth it for the less mess, ease of use and taste of food. I feel it makes chips that bit crisper as they have been constantly moved around. I've cooked teriyaki meatballs on the top whilst cooking my kids nuggets and chips on the bottom. I'm officially converted. I would not buy the airfryer again after using the actifry.
