Whole House Mouse Repellent - Ultrasonic Electromagnetic Mice and Rat Repeller

We recently had a mouse problem and after googling and youtubing for solutions to the problem, I came to amazon to pick up the requisite kit. Having seen relatively equal and polarising 1 Star and 5 Star responses about this item, I thought that this obviously works for some and but not necessarily for others; but in the circumstances, decided to take a chance. I had initial poor results until I realised that on it's own, it may not be a total solution. As at the end of the day, if a rodent wants warmth or food it may ignore the discomfort induced by the device in order to satisfy it's needs. I am therefore writing this review for the benefit of anyone else with this problem and explain what I did and this seems to be working thus far (caveat: I am not a professional rodent catcher). With research I took the position that there needs to be multiple layers of mouse defense / deterrence. 1. Remove food from internal bins daily and clear the kitchen area. They won't have as much incentive to come in. 2. Maintain the noise repeller to make it uncomfortable for them. 3. Set mouse traps (I used the Rentokil Enclosed Mouse Trap and caught 2) to get any already in the property. 4. Search for all internal holes and gaps in the infested area and seal them (mixture of fillers / glues / wire mesh or wool) to prevent entry. Apparently they can fit into small holes the width of a Biro pen. Check everywhere - including under cupboards, as builders often leave gaps where they are not obviously apparent to us, but very apparent to Mr / Mrs Rodent. 5. Check your external air vents and if necessary place wire mesh over them to prevent infiltration (if the grates are of sufficient size to allow their entry). Thus far, we have not caught any further mice or seen any of their droppings. I therefore think in conclusion, that this is probably a very good product, but that it might need to be a part of a multi-layer defense strategy of prevention and deterrence.

I read the reviews before I ordered but decided to ignore the negative ones as there seemed more of positive ones and to be honest I wanted to believe that this item would work. I followed the instructions to the letter, and for 4 weeks it seemed to be working, no signs of mice! However, tonight I found a mouse, just causally sat in the middle of our dining room! Which is actually where the product is plugged in & should work the best. Of course once the mouse spotted me it shot under the bookcase and now I can't find it. So we're back to square one. I'm now going to have to find an alternative method. I so wanted this product to work and am disappointed that it hasn't. I don't believe it's a case of not reading the instructions and setting the product up wrong as some reviewers have stated. I've double checked the instructions and it's set up correctly. So it looks like I've flushed the best part of £20 away on an item that doesn't work on mice. So does this product work? No, not on mice, however the house has been surprisingly free of spiders & flies since it was plugged in.

Nearly two months ago, scratching and gnawing sounds started appearing. There is a long stretch of terraced/detached properties and even turns 45 degrees via a purpose archway leading to a communal car-park. This device works, I tell you all now 100 percent. I got woke up between 2.00AM and 4.00AM due to increased knocking,scratching and gnawing sounds over the last 2 weeks. I bought a different PestBye model 2 months ago and decided to just use evenings and one full weekend. It's not enough. Up to 4 weeks continuous switch-on is what's recommended. The activity died away 2 months ago, but came back big time 2 weeks ago. Rats or mice in the walls and ceiling. My bedroom wall directly adjacent to my neighbours was absolutely riddled with walking, running, scratching, metal duct clanging, chewing...you name it. There was one large rodent causing the knocking noises, near to banging level, mixed with small rodent's. I had enough and nearly drove me mad. I definitely called it to have my first purchase plugged into the bedroom with light off, low frequency, continuous, and varied (not fixed). I strongly feel the varied setting will catch young and older/larger rodents attention. Within 48 hours, bedroom is clear. I was so impressed, I purchased this model to have in the lounge. Well....it's 2 weeks and all the noises are gone, apart from one rodent which sounds medium size in the bedroom ceiling. Lol...few taps on the ceiling I frightened the life out of it. The activity within the bedroom and lounge walls has gone, and the 1st device was directly plugged into the bedroom wall where 100 percent of activity was happening. Strangely the lounge wall, on the same side as the bedroom wall, activity has stopped there also. This problem did not start at my door, but many properties away. Rodent's got in climbing gutters into neighbouring properties, and eventually via breeze-blocks/ ductwork. I'm shocked that the gaps aren't sealed between different properties. Rat/mice droppings found six houses away in the loft. 2 weeks ago, white round polystyrene like pellets found all over my front and back garden. Probably wall insulation chewed to shreds, the stuff meant to keep me warm during winter....now main course for these rodents. As I said....the problem did not start at my home but at another neighbours home many doors away. Lady neighbour has reported issue to the Council. £35.00 per loft. No point doing that, unless entire Street agrees to let Pest Control wing of the Council gain access to everyone’s home, otherwise the issue hasn't been fully addressed. I am at the very end of the the row of properties, and the rodents must have legged it back towards where the issue started. Now, not my problem due to these very handy devices. I recommend 2 devices continuously on, and in the rooms where the noise issues are going on. Two more weeks to go and hope they don't come back, or else. My home must be radiated like a Christmas Tree by now. Thank you.

It is hard to be sure about the efficacy of this product but it seems to be working in our case. We started to hear intermittent evidence of a visitor (light scratching from under the floorboards in the living room for about five to ten minutes each time) a week or so after moving into our new home recently. On the third occasion we decided we needed to investigate pest control. After purchasing this product, the scratching ceased for a few days. However, we could hear the whine the device emitted very clearly and it proved too intrusive for our liking. Primrose customer support indicated this sounded like a faulty unit so we returned it to Amazon for a replacement. In the few days between switching off the noisy unit and installing the replacement (same model, but it has been much quieter) the scratching returned (same location). After installing the replacement unit we have only heard evidence of a visitor once; this time above the living room ceiling (instead of below the floor boards) and the nose was movement rather than scratching. Also it only lasted a minute or two instead of five-to-ten minutes. Evidence that it works: At least four visits in a handful of days while the device wasn't operating. Scratching in same location with no apparent urgency to move on. Evidence that it doesn't work: One visit in over a month while the device has been operating. However, this was in a slightly different location (above rather than below the living room), was much briefer than previous visits,and was the sound of 'frantic' movement rather than casual nibbling. It is difficult to confirm that the deterrent has any particular effect due to the limited window in which it has been tested. Our problem was hardly an extensive infestation to start with (just occasional evidence of a single rodent) and the reduction in visits could conceivably be coincidental. However, evidence from the past two months appears to indicate that it does have at least some kind of deterrent effect in our particular circumstances. I will try and update the review if this subsequently transpires not to be the case.

Good product but we still got a mice in the house just, agitated ones with massive headaches! It did make said rodents less at home so they were not so dormant of a daytime, just whizzed about confused here and there , but units were not enough to make them leave of their own accord. To be honest we had about six different units like this one, plugged in around the house, close to the floor . The sonic sound they emit, can't penetrate walls flooring etc which didn't stop the family panicking for three days and nights with the infernal scratching and eventual appearance of the pesky critters . However it did seem to agitate them enough to make them chew a hole in carpet under closed doors to try to escape rooms where the units were plugged into.... So we need new carpets now ... Oh deep joy . In the end it took an ex army artillery biker lying in wait all night, to corner and wallop mice on their bonces and, then a call out to pest control firm, to try make sure they were gone for good. That brings us up to speed but I'm leaving these sonic units on all the time as back up anyway .

Excellent mouse and rat repellent. We had mice in the kitchen behind the built in units. I tried another product that only emitted the high pitched notice and it had no effect on ridding the house of mice. This one has certainly worked and I'm not sure if it's the sound emitted or the electromagnetic field it creates, but the mice have definitely gone.

I purchased the product and have had it plugged in my kitchen for four weeks now (another site selling the same product says it could take up to 60 days to see final results). Whilst I have noticed sparce mice activity since plugging it in, they still pass through from time to time. Again, maybe I'm not being patient and I need to wait a little longer. I will not trash the product and say its entirely useless because I do believe that to SOME EXTENT, the unit does in fact effect the mice. However, I would not entirely depend on it as a final solution. They might be good for a preventative measure but if you already have established mice living in your home, you might need to indulge in other forms of extermination. If they've been living in your home for some time, they are not going to leave so easily. I've had them in my home for about two months now so this might be the reason why it's taking time. After a while though, they DO get use to repeating sounds, and then you are back to square one. For as long as they have available entry into your home, you will always have the possibility of mice roaming about in your house no matter how irritated they are by the unit. Before plugging it in, I have not seen them much due to making the house less homely for them. I will keep food thoroughly locked away. I don't leave dirty dishes lying around at night. Before going to bed, I will give all the rooms a good vacuum so that no crumbs are left in sight (mice can in deed live on crumbs and small bits of scraps, don't underestimate them!). I will stake out all of their possible hiding places (behind beds, sofas, stoves, fridges, etc), and I have cleared up all books and old newspapers, which they often use for nesting. The only way you will get rid of them is to find all the holes (I found at least five) and had them professionally covered (I'm with a Housing Assocation so mine was done for free). If they're still in the house, lay down the glue traps in the very place where you've seen the most activity. I can assure you that once you do this, your mice problems will be over. But don't solely rely on the unit. Use it as a back-up measure and nothing more. I have not seen or heard a mice in over a week but once again, I have not had the unit plugged in long enough and I took it upon myself to take the necessary action needed to deal with it. I have a five-year-old and was not willing to wait over a month for the unit to work especially since they were leaving their droppings everywhere. After another two or three weeks, I'll update the review.
