Soft and creamy, beautiful colour range
I was amazed at these colours. The colour range is perfect and enough to be able to draw whatever you wish. They are extremely soft and so easy to blend together. They're also quite thick so dropping them wouldn't instantly result in your pencil breaking. Definitely worth the price.

Gorgeous finish and colour
Bought these pencil crayons because of the reviews and has been totally worth it. I use them for my art business - i am very particular with getting strong colour in my designs and these pencil crayons deliver results that met my expectations. They blend well after a few layers and can take a build up of colour. The finish is smooth (if blended) or a grainy finish if used in few layers (so works really nicely over the top of watercolour or promarkers to give a bit of texture). My one piece of advice is you shouldn’t attempt to blend with other types of pencil crayon...I've never used these waxy types of crayon before and didn’t realise how different they are to ‘standard’ pencil crayons. If blended with other pencils they produce a weird sheen as you start to scrape off the top layer of wax with the standard pencil. Horrible effect. One of the reviews i read said it was difficult to sharpen these crayons to a point, but i chose to ignore it as i thought i could always use a knife. In fact a standard pencil sharpener is fine (sometimes you have to angle the pencil differently but ive found you have to do this with other pencils sometimes anyway. Glad i ignored that review, have been more than happy with my purchase, especially as i saw it as an investment considering the price.

Prismacolour Vs Polychromos- a review by an aspiring amateur
Summary: Review intended for those just beginning coloured pencilPros: Blends, layers and mixes very wellGives pictures a beautiful oil painting like finishWonderfully intense colourVery good selection of colours for most basic needs, including a flesh tone and a pinkThe pencils referred to in many learn to draw booksCons:Does not include pigment stick as advertisedDoes not keep sharp point for longWears down very quickly requiring frequent sharpeningDoes not work well with most conventional sharpenersCompared to oil based pencils does not work well with paper to smooth or too roughThis is a review for those looking to invest in their first set after leaving the Crayola comfort zone of coloured pencil art.I have been learning to use coloured pencils for around a year now and largely self taught. Whilst I learned using Polychromos a large majority of the books I had been using referred to the Prismacolour set of colours and recommended them for their softness, ability to layer and to blend and for their intense colour. I agree that compared to polychromos pencils they do blend more easily and will accept more layers, however compared to prismacolour they are more difficult to blend. I also believe that they are too similar in colour to prismacolour for that to be a factor.Where prismacolour stand out is their ability to create a drawing that has an almost oil-painting like consistency but with the precise control that coloured pencil can afford, but only on good quality paper with a very precise tooth, otherwise it will take many layers or a lot of sharpening in order to get your desired effect and avoid frustration. This brings me on to another minor problem I had with prismacolour- the pencil appears to be designed in such away that many commercial pencil sharpeners wont make the point sharp enough for fine detail. The biggest problem I had over Polychromos was the speed at which the pencil wares down- within just a few practice drawings I had taken centimeters off the pencil, where as my other pencils lasted considerably longer and kept their points sharper. My final word is this- certainly whilst the price is only £17.80 you can afford to buy a set of Prismacolour regardless of your level, but I would recommend practicing with other coloured pencil brands first and keep your set for your larger pieces you intend to display.(Professional artists can probably disregard this whole review).

Should have bought these first!
It was very confusing knowing which coloured pencils to get. I want to use them over watercolour and chose the wrong ones, which were a stupid, expensive mistake. I wish I had just got these from the outset.Only received them today and I need to practice as it’s new to me, but I do like them so far. They are very soft and waxy. I see people have had issues with breaking etc. So far, I have sharped a few and not had an issue. They do go down fast as they are soft. I am going to order the portrait colours now that I now I like them.Professional crayons.
