Is this the v2 version?

I know this is late answering this question, however for others who are currently interested in which version is supplied: Just ordered this and received - June 2018 and have been supplied the V3 version.

Has anyone ordered an 8 port recently and actually received the easy smart (v5) as opposed to the unmanaged pro (v4)?

Yes, mine is V5, and I manage it with TP link smart config utility.

Can this be mounted on the underside of a desk, and if so: How?

It can be mounted by using 2 small screws almost the same as hanging up a clock. The corresponding holes are on the bottom of the device. My personal view is that the v6 can be left on the desk top with no issues as it looks quite smart.
