What roast is it? / what roast does it taste like

I'm unfamiliar with all chicory however all I've had, had pretty much a very similar flavor. I'm intolerant of caffeine so I add chicory to decaffeinated coffee to further reduce the caffeine content and enhance the flavor. I just tried my usual weak brew; 1tsp per 5oz water. It is pretty weak; I knew it would be but for the sake of this comparison I thought it would be a place to start. I rebrewed the 4 cup pot with 4 rounded tsp. of Anthony's chicory and the original coffee. It turned out to be as I like my drink; but weak by most standards. I assume this Chicory is comparable to medium roast coffee. Hope this helps

Will i be able to use in an automatic coffee brewer, such as mr. coffee? would the granules need to be ground to do this?

The granules are ready to brew. I mix it with my ground coffee and brew the mixture as I would coffee. I have never tried it in a single serve brewer so I can’t say whether or not that would also work.

Anthony's is the 2nd brand of ground, roasted chicory I have tried. Anthony's tasts quite burned, ruining the chicory flavor. Please explain.

I agree. I tried two bags, the first was fine, the second burnt. It seems that they are not consistent. I wrote the company and they refunded. I have tried several companies. My favorite Chicory on Amazon is “Organic Chicory Drink” by The Chicory Company. Note that it does take about three weeks to get because it comes from the UK. You can order three at a time from Amazon, or just a single jar.
