Briggs & Stratton and 596459 Spring-Governor

Just what I needed.

Like an idiot, I got sucked into buy a non OEM spring for my mower because it came with all these extra perks. Those perks turned out to be junk, and worst of all is the sprint, which was the entire reason I purchased it, caused more problems.I received this spring and immediately could tell the difference. The fake on had a thinner diameter, and was far too springy, causing my idle speed to fluctuate, ultimately leading to the engine dying. When I replaced it with this one, bam, its up and running again. You get what you pay for.

The customer that I bought this for lost hers going in and underneath shrubs. She couldn’t figure out why it wasn’t running right. Looked up the part number on another site and typed in the part number on Amazon. Even though it’s a little higher in price, well worth the money because it’s OEM parts.

Was given a second hand Murray mower with an idling problem. Noticed the govenor spring was rusted and bent. I searched the motor serial number and found this spring right away. Once recieved it took 40 seconds to install with needle nose pliers. The results were instantaneous. Running and idle smoothed out greatly. With a small bottle of engine fix and a clean spark plug, she was ready for the front lawn again. Best part is I was able to keep the repair costs in the double digits. Thank You!
