Very good value basic pencil compatible with the latest iPad Pro and iPad Air (2025 versions)
I found this little Apple Pencil clone via an online review, which has proven very useful. As both of us have new iPads, I thought it would be good to try something new but as I've never had any form of electronic pencil before, I was wary of buying the new Apple Pencil Pro at £129. What if I just wasn't a pencil person, or had no artistic talent with a drawing programme? Now I'm not going to worry about the extra functionality the real Pencil Pro has and because I don't have an artistic streak I can't comment on how well it draws, or not. I also bought this because I thought it may double as a pointer for my wife, one whose pointy end won't fail after a few weeks of use (as her cheap, disposable ones do consistently). This may not be designed as a pointer but she finds it works very well with the 'point to paint' artwork she likes to complete. In fact, I haven't really had a look-in since I asked her to try it. She says it is much easier to be accurate with this pointer's end, which makes me happy. In fairness I must say when she's using it to tap-tap on iPad Air, it is noisier than a conventional fabric tipped pointer. I think it has a good weight in your hand and looks as if it will last a reasonable time (it has a spare pointy end). It charges quickly enough, the USB-C port is convenient and the 'tap-tap' action on the pencil-end to start using it and turn off works well. As does the auto-turn off after 5 minutes. From our use, I'd say it was fit for purpose and, at a fraction of the cost of the real Apple Pencil, warmly recommended. I may even buy one for myself!

Great Value Note-Taking Stylus, Solid Alternative to Apple Pencil
I’ve been using the MetaPencil with my A16 iPad for about a month, mostly for note-taking, and I’m quite impressed. It feels light and premium, giving the sensation of a high-end stylus at a fraction of the cost of the Apple Pencil. For anyone who wants a reliable and stylish option without paying Apple’s price, this is a solid choice. The pencil works very well for everyday note-taking. It responds to pressure reasonably accurately and feels natural when writing or sketching quick diagrams. It isn’t as smooth as the Apple Pencil, and occasionally it can lag during intensive use, but for most tasks, it performs very satisfactorily. On the downside, the battery life isn’t outstanding, and the charging port doesn’t have a protective cover like the Apple Pencil does. These are minor inconveniences but worth keeping in mind if you plan to use it heavily or worry about wear and tear over time. Overall, I would recommend the MetaPencil for its value. It’s a great choice for students, casual note-takers, or anyone who wants a premium-feeling stylus without spending a lot. That said, if you write a lot or rely heavily on the Apple ecosystem, the Apple Pencil might be worth the extra investment since it’s smoother, more responsive, and better integrated with iPadOS. In short: excellent for the price, premium feel, solid performance, but the Apple Pencil still wins for heavy users.

Very good
Great for iPads but over 3-5months the color starts to fade for comfortable to use and easy to charge and good connectivity and very strong and looks very sleek very durable and easy to charge

A worthy alternative to the Apple Pencil
I purchased this as a backup to my Apple Pencil Pro to use with the iPad Pro M4. Side by side the Metapen and Pencil Pro look identical (see pic enclosed). If it wasn’t for the charging status light and USB-C charging connector on the Metapen they would be as they share exactly the same dimensions. It’s only when you pick them up and use them that the differences become apparent. In the hand they feel and handle exactly the same even though the Metapen is slightly lighter, but only by a negligible 4grams. In use the Metapen lacks the some of the key features and functionality of the Pencil Pro, specifically the Haptic feedback, Double Tap, Squeeze, and Pressure sensitivity. If you are a serious artist or content creator you will benefit from these advanced features and functionality but for the vast majority of Pencil users like me, they are overkill. In all other respects the Metapen works just as well as the Pencil Pro. It’s robust, the magnet attaches firmly to the iPad, it holds its charge for hours of use, and it interacts with the screen with the same preciseness and latency. While I miss the instant functionality and wireless charging of the Pencil Pro, having to double-tap the top of the Metapen to activate it isn’t a major inconvenience. A word of advice if you decide to purchase and already own an Apple Pencil, both the Apple Pencil and Metapen work via Bluetooth, so if your Apple Pencil is already paired with the iPad, you will first have to disconnect it in Bluetooth settings, “Forget this device”, in order for the Metapen to pair with the iPad. I should add that my comments refer to the second, replacement Metapen I received as the first had a problem with the magnetic attraction being weak and not being fully compatible with the magnet polarity of the latest iPad Pro M4. It worked in all other respects though. Following an email exchange with Rosie at Metapen the problem was resolved in 24 hours and a new compatible A8 pen arrived the next day. The excellent service and support from Metapen together with my experience with the pen make it a worthy alternative to the Apple Pencil Pro, providing of course that you can live without some of the described functionality. But bear in mind that this functionality comes at a price with the Pencil Pro a hefty 158% more expensive, equivalent to almost 8 Metapens.

Very premium for the price!
Excellent pencil for the iPad. Really good quality, feels just like an Apple one but for a much better price! Connects super easily via Bluetooth. Charges very quick and has a very long battery life which is ideal for students or anyone who makes lots of notes/drawings! Feels amazing to write with, and has a very good build quality too. I love the double tap of the top of the pencil to turn it on, feels very premium for the price!

Great pen
Very good. Works well in my iPad. Has lasted absolutely ages. Quick charging. Only thing I can’t seem to get to work is touch sensitivity on procreate

Pleasantly surprised, and great customer service
Brilliant for the price. I upgraded iPad and my old Apple Pencil was no longer compatible. I didn’t use it enough to justify buying again, but then spotted this. It works just as well for my usage, it connects without needing to pair yet the iPad still knows a pencil is being used. Functions well and magnetically attaches. The first pen I received didn’t have the strong magnet and fell to the floor, breaking the tip in a way I couldn’t remove it, however a quick WhatsApp chat with support had a replacement out free of charge next day. If you don’t need everything from a pro pencil and are happy with a basic that just works I would absolutely suggest this over the Apple own budget pencil (which is still far from budget for what it is)

Nice pen! Nice quality and durability (battery and performance wise)
I bought his pen back in March for my IPad (10th gen) and kept it for quite some months. I did not really use it that much until two months, but when I did, it had some problems. Every time it would work discretely but also either make ---- lines or not write anything at all. Every time I had to go back to the part and write the text again. I did not do much about it for a while. Last month I contacted the Costumer Service via the WhatsApp number they have on their website. I explained the problems the pen had and they were quite friendly. They gave me the option to either 1) get a full refund or 2) get a new pen, because it seemed that the tip was defective. I chose the latter, as I needed the pen at that point. They asked me to send my info for the new order through Amazon, and then they shipped it! I did not have to send the defective one back or pay additional money for the new one. It arrived after a couple of days. I have been using it since then (about a month). It works perfectly! I have no problem that I previously had with the written lines, and the battery lasts quite some time. As you might read in the description, it shows different colours for how charged it is, but it also shows a red light when it is being charged and when it is completely charged it turns white. The charge does not take long (about 30 minutes for a full one, but you can leave it charging for 10 minutes to use it for a couple of hours). I have not seen a decrease in performance for the past month and also for the battery. The package is not really high quality (at least font and colours wise), and the plastic where the pen is on is also quite cheap, but other than these things, the pen feels and looks high quality. I also really like the fact that you can choose many different colours. I personally chose the purple one. The little cover for the USB-C charging port is quite useless for me as it's too bulky for my IPad cover.

👌👌👌
I’ve been using the Metapen A8 for a while now and I’m honestly impressed with its performance. The writing experience feels smooth and responsive, very close to using an original stylus. It connects quickly and works perfectly with my iPad—no lag or interruptions. Battery life is also a big plus. It lasts for hours on a single charge, and the fast charging feature is really convenient when you’re in a hurry. The palm rejection works well, so I can rest my hand naturally while writing or drawing. Build quality feels solid and lightweight, making it comfortable to use for long periods. For the price, this is definitely a great alternative to more expensive stylus pens. Highly recommended for students, artists, or anyone who uses their iPad daily!

Won’t need the Apple Pencil (90% of the time)
This stylus is fully compatible with my iPad Air 5th Gen (10.9”). It charges very quickly, and the battery lasts long enough for extended use. It feels comfortable for writing, simple sketching, and everyday navigation on the iPad. One thing to note is that it does not support wireless charging. However, it does have a built-in magnetic side, so it attaches securely to compatible iPads, making it convenient to carry and store. The product looks exactly as shown in the listing photos. If you want a protective case or replacement tips, the accessories made for the Apple Pencil (2nd Generation) appear to fit, as they seem to have the same dimensions. If you’re not willing or able to spend the money on an Apple Pencil, this is an excellent alternative at a great price. For about 90% of everyday use, it performs exceptionally well, offering smooth writing and impressive accuracy. I would definitely recommend it.
