Worth the wait.
It took just over a month to get here all the way from India. The suction base holds pretty powerfully to my granite countertop. It's easy to assemble. It takes just a bit of practice to learn how to grate the coconut all the way to the edge, but it does a great job. It is worth the wait!I tried putting a plate or a plastic sheet to catch the coconut. That didn't work so well because so much of the coconut falls near the body of the unit. So I just make sure I've got the countertop nice and clean and then just sweep it off the counter into my container.

Very effective scraper, slight technical problems...
This device does a great job of scraping coconut flesh out of the shell, faster than any other non-motorized technique I've found... The only problems are that the suction cup releases now and then, even when attached to a perfectly-smooth marble counter. It might be nice to have the option to clamp it to other surfaces. Also, the scraper head is just a little too close to the body of the device, and not high enough, so that it's difficult to place a bowl or plate to catch the grated coconut. Placing a cloth or paper or something flexible under the grater head worked OK, but it would be preferable to be able to get a better container underneath. But it does work, if you don't mind a little mess, and occasionally re-attaching the suction cup!

In the 1960s I saw a picture of an East Asian cocoanut grater in Rombauer's Joy of Cooking
When I was a teenager I watched my grandmother grating cocoanut on a box grater for an heirloom recipe that starts "Grate two large or three small cocoanuts." What a pain! I was 25 years old before I learned that cocoanut was white and not pink! In the 1960s I saw a picture of an East Asian cocoanut grater in Rombauer's Joy of Cooking, but before the internet I had no way of obtaining such tool. But I have now bought one and find it works like magic: I cracked a cocoanut in half and scraped out its contents in less than 30 minutes!

New Coconut Scrapper with a rusty blade.
I ordered two of these and each had rusted blades right out of the box, so I returned them for a refund.Con:Low quality blades that rust very easily.

Works but Expensive
Functionally the product works. However it's expensive for the quality of the product. I wish the suction cup was more functional. It comes off with the easiest of pressure.

Works great
I purchased this to replace one of a different brand that I had worn out. The head of this one is smaller but I don't think that makes any difference in its function. The suction base is better than my old one. I do wish the handle grip was bigger because of my bad finger joint. I am very pleased with it otherwise. I usually grate 7 to 10 coconuts a week.

Slow delivery and not awesome quality
First of all it took 3 weeks to get to me, and I forgot where it came from. The suction cup at button is amazing, I tried To pull with all my force and it wouldn't come off. Not sure how it would work on a wood or other surfaces. Marble or tile seems to be best. The unit it self is pretty small. I feel like my hand will hit the counter while turning. The handle should've been longer and may be a taller unit. I feel like I could take the front and use on a drill and might work easier, I haven't tried.I would recommend this product compared to other similar. I had ordered something else similar on ebay and never showed after 6 weeks.

I use them consistently and Anjali is the best for longevity
This is my third Anjali Coconut Shredder. I use them consistently and Anjali is the best for longevity. I bought the last one in India and only recently I broke it after 8 years of use.
