I really love the idea of having a dedicated pan bar with controls. Unfortunately, this one just feels slightly lower quality than what I need. The bar is metal, but the handle and controls are all lightweight plastic. That didn't bother me too much, but when using the variable zoom control, it's not nearly sensitive enough for proper video use. When moving the slider, you're nearly half way through the range of motion before the zoom kicks in, and then it's kind of a slow-medium speed. If you toggle the "slow" switch, it gives you a truly slow and steady zoom which works well, but the variable option really just gives you "medium" to "fast" and not much control over that small range. I ended up returning this handle in favor of a much higher build quality and durable Libec variable zoom attachment with remote focus adjust too. That one was only slightly more expensive, and is just as sensitive as the camera's original variable zoom controls. Definitely recommend comparing your options and spend a little extra for better quality if you're doing video work.
