Happily, the size and quantity are what I expected. Not too much dust and rinsed remaining at a usable size. It blended perfectly with pumice and lava rock. It is well priced, and arrived with a beautiful reddish-brown hue.

I used it for sad wind damaged elephant foot palm. The plant is definitely appreciating the rich soil and my loving care. Can it perform a miracle? Maybe.

well draing works well as needed

Picked this up to use as a component in my bonsai/succulent soil mix, and it's held up well. What it is: 100% natural fired volcanic clay, no fillers or dyes, small grain (1/8"–1/4"). Comes in a resealable bag — nice for keeping the rest dry between uses. Performance: Grain size is consistent with minimal dust. It's genuinely porous, drains fast, and the granules visibly darken when wet, so it's easy to tell when to water at a glance. Note: Like the listing says, akadama isn't meant to be used alone — mix it with pumice, lava rock, etc. for a proper gritty blend. I did roughly 1:1:1 with pumice and lava rock and drainage has been great with no compaction. Only gripe: 2.5 lbs goes quickly if you're repotting more than a plant or two, so size up if needed. Bottom line: True-to-size, good quality akadama that does what it says. Great for smaller projects; just budget for more if you've got several pots to do.
