Stylish but Disappointing - The Caraway 2 Quart Whistling Tea Kettle (Update)
I was initially excited to get my hands on the Caraway 2 Quart Whistling Tea Kettle, as its sleek design and reputation for durability seemed promising. However, my experience with this kettle left me somewhat disappointed.First and foremost, the price of the Caraway kettle is quite high compared to other options on the market. While I expected to pay a premium for its attractive design, I hoped it would deliver both form and function. The kettle, with its modern and minimalist aesthetic, certainly adds a touch of sophistication to any kitchen. Its stainless steel construction gives it a substantial, high-quality feel, and the soft pastel color options are visually appealing.Unfortunately, the aesthetics are where the positives end. After just a few weeks of regular use, I began to notice discoloration on the body of the kettle. The once-gleaming surface began to show signs of wear and tear, which was disappointing considering the steep price I had paid.Things took a turn for the worse when the entire exterior of the kettle turned an unattractive shade of black. Not only did this make it look unsightly, but it also made me concerned about the materials used in its construction. I tried cleaning and polishing the kettle, but the discoloration seemed irreversible. This disheartening development made it impossible to leave the kettle on the stove for fear that it would ruin the overall aesthetic of my kitchen. Given the price I paid and the expectations I had, this was a significant letdown. A kettle should not only look good but also maintain its appearance over time.In conclusion, the Caraway 2 Quart Whistling Tea Kettle may initially catch your eye with its stylish design, but its disappointing durability and the rapid discoloration of the exterior are major drawbacks. Considering its high price point, I expected a kettle that would both impress with its appearance and stand up to regular use. Unfortunately, it fell short on both fronts. If you prioritize aesthetics over longevity, this kettle might be for you, but for those seeking a truly durable and attractive option, I would recommend exploring other alternatives.Update:I am thrilled to report that, following the submission of the pictures, your customer service team promptly arranged for a replacement kettle to be sent to me. I received the new kettle earlier this week, and it is in perfect working condition. I am truly impressed by the efficiency and professionalism demonstrated by your team throughout this process.

Beautiful and well madeTea Kettle
This tea kettle is a stunning statement piece on the stove. I returned the first one I ordered because of a defect on the spout. On the second day of receiving this one I noticed a very small scratch on the edge of the lid. It may have come that way or I may have scratched it pulling it out of the pot, but it is very minor and I will be keeping this one. My only negative about the kettle is that if heating water on no more than medium heat and on the burner that fits the kettle's bottom as recommended, it takes a long time to come to a boil - around 16 minutes when I timed it. I can make that work and have another tea kettle to use if time is a factor. If you take the kettle off the heat as soon as it starts to whistle the handle does not get hot. The one time I let it boil a little longer to see if the whistle would get louder (it did) the handle did get very hot. The reason I bought the tea kettle was because it is beautiful, very high quality and free of toxins and I'm very happy with it. It brightens up my kitchen along with my recently acquired red retro toaster.Changed my rating to 5 stars. My only complaint was the kettle is slow to boil. I timed another kettle I have on the medium setting on the burner that fits the bottom (as recommended by Caraway for this kettle) and it took just as long to come to a boil so it is what it is - a beautiful kettle that is well made but requires a little while longer to boil.

Absolutely gorgeous kettle that is supremely well-made; perfect for those with high-end tastes
The media could not be loaded. This is an absolutely gorgeous kettle. It is well made, solidly built, and overall a dream to use. POSITIVES- It holds up to 2 quarts of water to the fill line.- It is solidly built.- It whistles lightly when the water has reached a rolling boil.- The top fits securely on the kettle but requires a little extra strength to seat and remove.- It comes with a blue potholder.- It comes in seven wonderful colors--gray, cream, navy, perracotta (like a salmon color), marigold (yellow), sage (deep green), and mist (a light green).NEGATIVES- The last bit of water in the kettle gets caught under the rim unless one can center the flow through the spout. This means that I have to dry the inside with a towel for storage.- The kettle is heavy; almost like a cast iron pot.- It requires a potholder to use (opening of the spout, pouring, etc.) because the entire kettle gets very hot and that includes the handle and spout lever. I also would have liked a mitt potholder the color of the kettle. In summary, I love this kettle despite its negatives. At this high price, supplying the user with a mitt potholder instead of a flat one in the color of the kettle one purchases, would elevate the purchase to the next level. Note that I never heard of the Caraway brand before and saw this kettle in blue on the Vine program. Since ordering this through Vine would not provide me with much savings at the list price, I decided to order this when the price came down for prime day in the color I wanted. The Caraway site was cheaper that day by $4 (i.e. $176) but sort of required the purchase of insurance for $4.95. Therefore, I purchased this on Amazon for $180 plus tax, bringing this to $191.93. I still consider this pricey but this is the best made kettle I ever tried. It is right up there with Le Creuset Dutch Ovens and almost just as heavy too. This is a kettle that I expect to last my lifetime. There are many kettles on the market that are less than $40 that also could last a lifetime but they are not as nice. I do hope it continues to meet my expectations going forward. If it fails in any way, I will lower my rating, update my review, and will most likely regret my purchase. As of now, I love this and took off one star due to the negatives.UPDATE - I've been using this regularly for days now and I noticed that this takes longer to boil water than my other kettle and keeps the water warmer a little longer. I also noticed that if I put this on my burner that has a lower flame, the handle does not get hot when the boil is complete, so that is nice.
