Excellent saltwater chlorinator – worth every penny! I’ve been using this Intex saltwater system for several weeks now, and I couldn’t be happier. It has kept my pool crystal clear with very little effort. Once I added the correct amount of salt and set the timer, it has been producing chlorine consistently without any issues. The installation was straightforward, and it works perfectly with my Intex sand filter. I love not having to constantly add chlorine or deal with the strong chemical smell that comes with traditional chlorine pools. The water feels much softer on the skin and eyes. Maintenance has been minimal, and the control panel is easy to use. For anyone with an above-ground pool looking for an affordable and reliable saltwater system, I highly recommend this unit. ***original review from April 2018*** I had the last generation salt system on my pool and got a season out of it before it stopped working. Intex sent me a new one but I bought this one because I couldn't wait two weeks for it to arrive. When this one dies I have a backup while i'm waiting for a replacement. I bought this well aware I will be getting 1-2 seasons max out of this. I have an 18' round steel above ground pool and this works great. I keep it on three hours a day and have no issues getting sufficient chlorine in my pool. It's been running for about 45 days so far and no issues. It has a three year warranty and their customer service is good overall. Replacements take a couple weeks to arrive so keep it in mind when your unit craps out. Even thought the life span is so short I still think it's worth not having to deal with chlorine in my pool. No smelly skin, no chemical balancing issues, no green pool. Saltwater is the BEST. If you are like me and installing this on a regular non intex pool they make this adapter https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B012BUM5V8/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1 This way you dont need to make something from PVC. One end screws onto the salt system and your pool hoses slide over the other end and get clamped down. No leaks at all. I'm going to update this review at the end of this season or if the unit dies before then. **October 2018 Update** I just closed my pool down yesterday. As I was closing it down I thought I would record a video with my opinions. Feel free to watch it or just read below. The generator functioned as intended the entire season. It kept my 18" above ground non Intex pool crystal clear all year. The only thing I added to my pool was to bring the hardness level up a bit and added a bit of salt when I had to drain the pool because of the rain. Besides that I put nothing else in my pool from April to October. It ran for four hours a day and kept everything beautiful. I'm hoping I get a lot more use from it next year when it's opened again but we shall see. For $129 will keep buying these even if they only last a year, because it saves from having to buy chlorine and the frustration of having to add it and keep everything balanced. Highly recommended for an above ground pool Intex or not. **update April 2019** Opened my pool April 2019. Plugged this in and it fired right up. I installed a new liner so I filled with fresh water, put in the salt to about 2,800 and balanced the water. So far the generator fired right back up and is sanitizing my water. I will update the review again if the unit dies or makes it this year***

I ordered the saltwater chlorinator in early April 2022. It did not work. So I requested a replacement from Amazon. Got it late April. It works fine. I did not return the original because my experience with these units is they last about 1 year, so I thought I'd just keep the defective one and request warranty for the part that was bad. Now, hours into a maze from Hades, here's what's going on. Intext warranty support was very hard to reach. I did finally get someone on the phone, and after a very painful 30 minute conversation, I was able to have them send me a replacement titanium electrode (having two identical units allowed me to test and find out what part was defective). That replacement shipped in late June. It is now late July. UPS tracking has a final entry on June 29 that the part is about 60 miles from my house. At this point I figure it will never arrive, so: - I call Intex again and talk to a nice enough agent, and I can understand him which is a huge plus. - He tells me that once Intex hands the item to the shipper, that there is nothing Intex will do to resolve a problem with shipping. I complain, but he is following Intex's horrible internal policy, and all he can do is give me the phone number for UPS. He gives me the wrong number, not even a valid number, and he tries a few tmore times but never gives me a valid number. - So I thank him for his time, and then I get online with UPS for a chat session. Spend another 20 minutes there, and the chat agent tells me to file a claim. - So then I try to file a claim with UPS, set up an account so I'm somebody to them, and when I get to the "new claim" page finally (about an hour after my fun day started), I get an error from UPS that "Cannot submit claim. Unfortunately, this package type is not eligible for a claim submission. [UPS:E030]" What now? I ordered the replacement item directly from intex. $150. When it arrives I guess I will start a new warranty claim with Intex and just try to get my money back at that time. How should things be different? If you ship something, you should make an effort to find out when things do not arrive, or arrive damaged, and you should help the customer resolve the problem. This is customer service 101. In my experience with Intex, they have lousy customer service, and sometimes lousy parts. These titanium electrodes might last a year, if you are lucky, but I'll take a year if I can get it. If not, I have to weigh the pain of calling Intex warranty support and all the frustration associated with that, and with all the runaround I've done to "follow the rules" as it were, I'm no closer to having a working chlorinator.

I added this to a 24 ft Intex pool that I set up new this year. I've had it run for about 4 hours each day while the pump is going and my pool has stayed crystal clear with minimal effort. With the saltwater generator I also have not had to continually add chlorine, norva had to add a lot of other chemicals to balance the chlorine and its effects on water chemistry.

A month ago, the grade would have been 1 (bad!!), but now its 4 because it keeps my pool water beautiful without intervention from me. After fighting the high salt alarm for a month, my Intex Saltwater System (chlorine generator) has worked flawlessly for 17 consecutive days! My conclusion is that the high salt alarm circuit is faulty (it alarms for the wrong reason) and the electrodes need a break-in period. According to the analysis by the pool supply store my current salt level is higher than it was when the high-salt alarms were going off. I agree with that analysis. I started the salt concentration at the 3000 parts per million that was recommended by Intex and 2 weeks ago shocked the pool with hypochlorite. In the month and a half that I've had this unit I have NOT cleaned the electrodes with vinegar. That didn't help the previous unit so I didn't even try on this one. What has helped most is running the pump at least an hour before starting the chlorine generator, and, during the "break-in period", tricking the high-salt alarm by running fresh water (about 3 gpm) into the skimmer (with pump running) for about 20 minutes before starting the chlorine generator. Another “trick” that seemed to work was turn the chlorine generator off for 36 hours. I set the self-clean cycle to reverse polarity every 6 hours, because my water has calcium hardness is 250 to 300 ppm, Here's my story. May 3rd I started up the chlorine generator (Intex Saltwater System with E.C.O. (Electrocatalytic Oxidation) model ECO5110) on our new Intex 16 foot above the ground pool and set it to do the Boost cycle. It ran for at least 10 and a half hours. The next morning I found it had terminated its cycle early for high salt alarm. After leaving it off for 2 days (while doing initial acid and cyanuric acid additions) it ran successfully for 6 hours, then the following day ran a couple of hours before failing on high-salt alarm. I called Intex and was advised to clean the electrodes with vinegar, which I did. But the unit continued to fail for high-salt every time I tried to start it up. We returned the unit to Amazon and they shipped us another unit. The second unit exhibited similar pattern: it worked well for about two days then started having high-salt alarms, even though the salt content of the pool water had not changed (and was at the Intex recommended concentration). I discovered the run-fresh-water-through-it trick and the leave-it-off-for-a-day trick mentioned above, which would get it to run for a few hours. sometimes as much as 5 or 6 hours, before having another high-salt alarm. Working these tricks we kept our water clean with about 1 ppm chlorine for 4 weeks. The final "cure" came when we were out of town 5 days. We left the pump on a 12 hour per day cycle and left the chlorine generator on a 6 hour/day cycle, but knew the chlorine generator would fail, thus would be on only a few seconds per day. Sure enough, when we returned our pool water was cloudy green and the inside walls of the pool where little slimy. I adjusted the pH and shocked it with sodium hypochlorite a few times until the water was beautiful again – clear, clean and the walls were not slimy anymore. The third day home I started up the chlorine generator and it ran successfully for the set 6 hours. There have been no high-salt alarms since. The pump runs automatically 12 hours a day and the chlorine generator comes on about an hour after the pump starts. At first the chlorine generator was set to run 6 hours a day but for the last 2 weeks it has been running it 9 hours a day to get the chlorine level up to 1 to 2 ppm each day (Daytime temperatures have been in the 90s Fahrenheit). Our pool is only 2500 gallons and this chorine generator claims to treat up to 7500 gallons, so having to run this unit 9 hr/day seems too much. But the water stays beautiful with no chlorine smell or soreness! So, I grade it 4 of 5 – marked way down for the month of nursing through its break-in period, but marked back up because it now keeps our pool water so nice without nursing it at all. I can’t give it a 5 because of the initial trouble.

One of the best purchases I made for the pool! This is so much easier than chlorine. When opening the pool, add your salt, mix, filter, day later start the salt chlorinator up and you’re good for the whole summer. This has kept my pool perfectly balanced since I bought it a month ago - when using chlorine my pool never stayed balanced. The salt water also keeps the pool cleaner - crystal clear without weekly shocking. Even with the heavy rains we been getting over the last week, my pool is still crystal clear. Very happy with this purchase!

Purchased this in 2024, and it's still going strong. Our pool holds about 2,800 gallons, and we chose the QS1200. It's definitely larger than currently need, but for a few extra dollars, it made sense since knowing we'd likely upgrade to a bigger pool in the future. Maintenance is very minimal, though not completely maintenance-free. Descaling the unit once a year with plain white vinegar is all that's required - YouTube videos. Since switching to saltwater, we've been able to keep our pool up year-round for the past two years without the hassle of taking it down and setting it back up. Running the system just a couple of hours a day is well worth the time and effort it saves. We also use a PoolRX ball, and with these two products combined, we haven't needed any additional chemicals to maintain our pool. It's inexpensive and incredibly easy to care for—aside from the usual skimming and vacuuming, of course. Highly recommend switching to a saltwater system, and highly recommend this product!

J’utilise ce système depuis plus de vingt ans et je n’ai qu’une chose à dire, il est parfait pour l’entretient de votre piscine vous aurez toujours une très bonne qualité d’eau sans vous casser la tête, toujours une chlorination selon les normes. Suivez bien les instructions avant l’installation assurez vous d’avoir une eau parfaite aux départs surtout le PH recommandé et la quantité de sel recommandé pour votre volume d’eau de la piscine et installer votre intex selon les instructions et par la suite Intex s’occupe de maintenir votre piscine dans les normes.

Purchased this salt water machine along with the matching intex sand filter. Easy to install, and worked amazing! Installed in June and had crystal clear pool water until the day we closed it down in September, with barely any maintenance. Highly recommend for busy people who don’t want the hassle of traditional pool chemicals.

OK filter.Returned the first one missing pieces had no problem with seller they sent us another one, problem is it only comes with one hose. Filter is used 2 months a year only I live in canada and I have a summer wave pool.

Works perfect out of box. 4 weeks use water crystal clear.
