I decided that it was time for an upgrade to my home theater, so I replaced an older Optoma HD72 projector with this Optoma HD39Darbee. Even after about 10 years of daily use, the HD72 still gives a very sharp 720P image, but I wanted to have 1080P, and 3D. I did a lot of research for the best unit for my application. My home theater uses a 150" screen. This unit turned out to be the perfect choice. The picture quality is outstanding. Along with this projector, I also bought a pair of DLP Link glasses to view 3D movies. The 3D movies are absolutely amazing. The picture is bright, super detailed, and the 3D effects will blow you away. This is the second Optoma projector I have owned. I am sold on the Optoma brand, and would highly recommend this unit to anyone looking for a great projector. I must also add, that I have NOT been compensated in any way to write this review. This is just that great of a projector, and brand.

Amazing projector. Fantastic for ambient light rooms such as living rooms. Visitors are always blow away by the picture, its even better than the theater! Fan noise is a little loud, but really its trivial once you have the movie sound going. DarbeeVision up scales it to a 4K like resolution. Really impressed. I've tried Epson projectors and this is the absolute best! No rainbow effect at all. The DLP has a much better contrast. More vibrant colors. Lamp lasts 15,000 hours which is amazing. I have a spare lamp on hand just in case but may never need it.

Using this just a few times now and I can tell for sure it generates lots of heat, so hot that it begins to cause concern. (It is probably warmer and quicker than an area heater, it is not touchable when it gets hot, your skin may get burned) I have Optoma HD26 1080p 3D DLP Home Theater Projector for 2 years and still working fine, this one, I doubt it will last for 1 year. I am seriously asking, why would the company put out a 'hot' product like this?

My previous protector went out after 6 years and I was looking into replacements in the ~$4,000 range. I checked Amazon just to see what was popular and took a chance on this one. I'm straight shocked to say that compared to my previous several thousand dollar projector from years ago, this thing is significantly brighter, just as color accurate and most amazing of all, almost silent!! I'm running a 14 foot screen from about 12ft back and this projector can even do that better and wider than the previous. There are two points that made me give it 4 stars. It's ceiling mounted and the mounting screws are M3 size for the main three mounting holes and an annoying M4 size for the alternative three mounting holes. I don't know why there isn't a standard like VESA in this category and why they would use such odd and different sized screws in a seemingly random pattern. Also, it seems the projector doesn't have a sideways keystone so it'll need to be about center. I might be wrong on that second point but I couldn't find it in the settings. All in all, super bright, great color and picture, nice and quiet by comparison to many others I've used, and a shockingly good price. It's not the most popular one on Amazon for no reason. I would bet that all the reviews are real too unlike many other products.

The picture quality is good, even considering that I'm just projecting on a wall. It's quite bright and can be seen in a moderately lit room, but you will have the best experience in a dimly lit or dark room, since you will see more details. The stereo is acceptable quality for me, considering that it is not its main job. It lacks bass, but overall does a great job with sound considering it's a projector. The remote is super bright, probably to compensate for the descriptions of the buttons not lighting up. It has a decent amount of ports of it and works very well with something like an Amazon Fire Stick or Roku.

We bought this projector January 11, 2018. After minimal to average use (my son uses it for gaming occasionally), it is already not working. We’re assuming it’s th bulb-which is supposed to have a 2 year life-but are not certain as the rep told us it could be a problem with the bulb casing too. The company only offers a one year warranty, and of course, 6 weeks after the warranty expires the machine stops working. Very disappointed and would not buy from this seller again.

I would give this 6 stars if I could. It is unfortunate that Optima has discontinued this model. No other economical projector in their lineup has the zoom range that allows me to fit the picture to the space I have. Or is as bright as this. This is my fourth projector. I have spent close to $3000 on higher end projectors and I feel like the picture from this $700 projector is superior for my purpose which is a living room with ambient light. The picture this produces is as bright as you would ever want and the color is vibrant. It is hard to believe I am shining this on just my beige wall. I have purchased projector screens in the past. I feel no need to spend thousands of more dollars for a screen with the picture I get from this. You do pay a price for the cheap cost. I do miss having a motorized lens with horizontal and vertical lens shift and memory and horizontal keystone correction. That means to square up the picture, you have to position the projector just right. But once you get it right, you can set it and forget it. I mostly miss that with a motorized lens you can zoom out for a widescreen movie and really get the immersive affect you want in a projector at the touch of a button. You can still do that with this projector but it is a manual hassle. Mostly I don’t bother with it. But for the $700 price tag, this thing is ridiculously good and perfect for a living room. You don’t need to spend thousands of dollars more for fake 4k and a dimmer picture. Not for a living room. If you have a dedicated home theater space, there is better options. At a price. But for casual tv viewing and web surfing I don’t really want to have to live in a darkened environment. This is a perfect living room projector.

A total non-techie needs to do a Power Point presentation. Got new projector set up, connected with HDMI to laptop. Can get Power Point presentation on screen, but can't set the remote to navigate "page up" or "page down." Have followed instructions, clicked on "Mouse," arrow pops up, mouse icon appears lower right, but neither the "page up/down" buttons or the arrows do anything. Anyone have any hints? Could the remote simply be defective in that regard and need replacement?

This thing goes on forever and with the greatest quality full HD can give you ! I wanted to write a review since 8 years ago, it still going … you should get it. Add to cart !

This is my first projector, purchased by me for my office and home purpose. I started watching few movies through Youtube. It arrived in just a couple of days & was very easy to set up. Awesome projector the colors are amazing even in daylight looks great,the Darbee effect it's a tru game changer the fan it's not loud at all, if you turn the settings on eco mode it's super quiet. Exploring the features of the product..!!!.. So far great...Excellent picture quality and excellent.

After searching the internet and reading the reviews I decided to purchase this Optoma HD39 Darbee projector, as it is my first one I was not sure what to expect about the quality. So after receiving it two days after ordering I decided to try it directly on the wall which is painted dark beige... I was extremely satisfied With the picture quality. I also purchased a 120" white screen from Amazon for $40. After attaching it to the wall and adding a frame the picture is better and more vibrant. The sound of the speaker on the projector is decent but I'm not to worried as I have a sound box I Installed. The projector gets a bit hot where the fan is so I decided to hang it from the ceiling. I use it with PS4 and android box and overall I'm extremely happy.

I've been wrestling with upgrading to a UHD 4K projector but everytime I watch a 4K movie on one of our big 4K oled tvs its very nice picture with wonderful color but just doesn't pop like a 2K 3D blu-ray. Now comes this Optoma with Darbee video processing and it makes the 2K 3D blu-rays really pop and feel like their higher resolution. I've set it up to 150" diagonal and it's real fun when the 3D is strong. Interestingly it makes the actors look a little older (just like 4K does) because of the enhanced detail. Just can't hide those wrinkles and blemishes as easy anymore.
