Bench Circular Saw KS 115, 37006, Green

The Proxxon KS 115 micro circular saw certainly exceeded my expectations. Don't know how I would have gotten the current model scratch building project done without it. As others have pointed out in their reviews, don't be fooled by the "toy like" look of the rip and miter fences. They are solid and very accurate tools. Checked a number of cuts and each and every one has been dead on. Been primarily cutting 1/16" and 1/8" plywood and basswood. Cuts through effortlessly. Very clean cuts requiring little or no cleanup. Have purchased the fine tooth blade 28020 to go with it for styrene and non-ferrous materials. Likewise works great. The dust collection system works well, leaving relatively little sawdust. And the saw is super quiet. Needed a saw for making very small cuts from thin wood. Not something one would use a 10" table saw blade on, being extremely dangerous to attempt. The 2" Proxxon blades, leaving about a 1/32" kerf, are perfect for model building sawing needs. Have cut extremely tiny pieces with perfect accuracy. I also have the Proxxon chop saw and drill press and likewise have been very pleased with the quality and accuracy. They factored in to my decision to go with their table saw. Only suggestion I would make to Proxxon is to include some type of push sticks as well as a micro clamp built into the miter fence to firmly hold the stock. I found a simple wood pencil, with the eraser end down on the work, indeed makes a great push stick! Will be looking to devise some type of clamping on the miter. Although the blade is tiny, one can easily get a nasty finger cut or worse if you get to close holding small pieces. Overall very please with the quality and price.

LOVE this mini table saw! I make dollhouses and this is absolutely perfect for my many wood working needs. Very well made, easy to use and perfect size with minimal noise. It can take the place of a big, expensive laser cutter in quite a few ways. Very useful addition to crafter's tools.

The saw i received looked like a returned unit however it was in like new condition and complete. It looked like the previous owner made a few wood cuts on it and decided it wasn't for them. This was probably due to the saw being out of adjustment from the factory. The blade had a fair amount of lateral play causing wobble cuts. Instead of returning it and possibly getting another saw with the same issue , i decided to take it apart and find the problem. I found the blade arbor not tight against the inner ball bearing race. This causes two problems. Excessive lateral play in the blade and the arbor shaft may spin in the bearing race eventually causing damage. To fix it , just follow the instructions on how to replace the toothed rubber drive belt. Loosen the arbor shaft set screw and pinch the belt pulley and arbor together so it's tight against the bearing then re-tighten the screw. After getting it back together the unit worked very nicely and had sufficient torque to cut 1/4" birch aircraft plywood even though it's rated for 3/16 max. The rip cuts are now nice and straight so i'm happy with it. Those wobbly blade guards are always a pain but are necessary to keep the manufacturer out of legal issues. Most all the saws sold in the US have blade guards designed the same way. On this little saw i just raise the guard up some and rubber band it to stay off the table and ALWAYS have my safety glasses on. I also purchased the expensive carbide blade to cut thin soft metals. Works great and makes beautiful clean cuts in 1/16" brass sheet. This saw was designed to cut common hobby materials. Anything bigger or harder needs a larger / stronger saw. In that case i use my 3 HP contractors saw. Have been building R/C model airplanes since the 60's and will use this tool very often.

Having already purchased the FBS 115/E rotary tool and the MB200 drill stand, I had no hesitation in ordering the KS 115 Circular Saw. I need to cut hundreds of small parts (1 1/8" x .167") out of 1/8" holly, and when the saw arrived I was shocked at how small and light is. However, cutting these small parts on my full sized table saw is dangerous so I set up the Proxxon and gave it a try. Much to my surprise, it was perfect. The fence, which doesn't look like much more than a toy, is perfectly parallel to the blade as measured with a couple of precision squares. The miter gauge, which looks even more like a toy, holds its setting perfectly - time after time, cut after cut. I wouldn't rely on the miter gauge's scale if extreme accuracy is required, but once you get it dialed in correctly, it stays put. The width of the cuts are exactly .167 over the entire length of the pieces and have no burn marks whatsoever - I problem I did have with my full sized saw on these narrow parts. Just for kicks, I tried cutting some beech and ebony - again out of stock approximately 1/8" thick. Again, no problem and no stalling as was reported in another review. All of this with the standard blade that comes with the unit. As long as the saw is set up correctly and the wood is within its stated capability as to thickness, this unit has proven to be faultless. One final note: It's tempting to view this saw as more of a toy than a real machine. That would be a mistake, as it's more than capable of inflicting injury to the non-focused user. I opted to not use the included blade guard because of the size of the wood I'm working with which makes the guard awkward to use. By doing this, I'm subject to an injury if my concentration level falls. As a result, I treat this mini-saw with the same respect I show when using my full sized saw. So should you.

The saw is Godsent. I've been doing museum quality tall wooden ships for 35 years and finally a saw that makes fine straight smooth cuts, and does it quickly and quietly. I've read some negative responses but have not experienced any of those problems. The optional 28020 fine tooth blade is essential for fine work, it cuts true, smooth, and square, everytime. I suspect the negative comments result from misuse. The saw with the fine blade is intended for miniature fine work on modeling wood such as basswood, not oak or iron. Do not force it or try to rush it, let it do its own speed and it will impress you. It's a small saw for light work and does a beautiful job within that framework. I've tried many over the years, but this Proxxon KS 115 is simple and convenient on the workbench, does a very fine job, and is highly recommended. I've never done dollhouses but I believe this would also be perfect for the straight-square cutting in house construction. I can send photos if desired.

I was uncertain about buying this product. Like many others I thought it looked like a toy. I put off purchasing it for many months for this reason. I know Proxxon has a reputation for their tools so finally bought it when the price was right ($109.). I am very glad I did. I've had it for several months now and I wish I had purchased it sooner. I am a model and diorama maker in 1:87 scale. I use it every time I am in my " shop" as it make cutting chores less tedious and more precise. It is quiet when used on balsa, thin basswood and cardboard. I use it with a variable speed unit and change the speed based on the material I am using. The only (miild) criticism I have about the machine is the "fragile" button set-up to get into the machine for vacuuming and changing blades. If anything ever breaks on this product it will probably be this. If so, it can always be quickly repaired with tape. Anyway, I strongly recommend this product if you follow the rules about limiting what types of wood you use and feed the saw slowly. I would recommend adding to your purchase the Fine blade as well for even more delicate cuts.

I don’t understand all the complaints. This is a really great little tool! I use it for small craft projects ripping and cross - cutting plywood, cedar, and poplar about 1/4 inch thick with absolutely no issues. Don’t rush it- let the machine do what it is designed to do. The results are super precise. I hope to soon acquire the matching chop saw.

I never write reviews for anything but this saw far exceeded my expectations. I make wooden miniatures and this is game changing. I saw a lot of negative reviews about how the saw bogs down. People, this is a palm sized belt driven saw. Use your brain. Go slow and it works flawlessly every time. If you need HP you shouldn’t be looking at this saw. I’ve been cutting basswood, balsa, maple and poplar dowels up to 3/8 and even solid 3/8 thick hard maple with no issues. I also saw a lot of complaints about the fence not continuing to the back of the saw. If you use the machine you will find out very quickly that this is a non issue and is designed so you can safely move your cut piece away from the blade without it falling off the table. My only complaint is that the riving knife isn’t perfectly in line with the blade causing a sudden stop in forward motion. I haven’t tried to adjust it yet but the saw is so small that it is very easy to just push the riving knife in line with kerf with an index finger. Awesome and versatile tool.

I was apprehensive when purchasing this item. The product was delivered on time but the box it came in was somewhat broken, however the saw was ok. The saw actually looks better in person than it does in the pictures. It comes with a fine toothed saw blade of which I wanted. I powered the item up and it ran smoothly. I cut some balsa wood and it made a nice clean cut. It comes with a guide that runs smoothly in its grove, the actual table top cutting surface is metal. Overall the saw is a good weight so it won't bounce around, It dead come with screws if you want to screw it down to a surface. I ordered 2 extra blades. I'm happy with this product. Make sure you use this saw for its intended purpose that is light cutting of woods like balsa or small hardwoods, Its a mini hobby saw.

My Proxxon table saw arrived yesterday and started right in cutting stock, works fabulous!!! One issue that I found right away is the wood will hit the vertical metal holding the guard in place and it made it a bit difficult to get longer pies of stock past this. My fix was to take apart the saw and remove the guard and now it is perfect!!!! For the smaller woodworking hobbyist I highly recommend this saw. Now I am thinking of getting a sander.
