This little light was purchased for both me and my parents in an effort to reduce the disruption of melatonin production upon visiting the bathroom in the middle of the night. If your eyes are subjected to regular spectrum 'white' light, the melatonin production will be halted which can affect your health. This light (red) prevents that from happening. I had to put some tape over it to make it a bit dimmer for my taste but my parents love it and it's been a good healthy addition to our homes.

You can change the brightness of the light. Like a light in the dark and it’s really nice to be able to see.

They look very nice and give off a soft warm/amber glow.

I've bought other lights similar to this, but this product has a bonus. These have a switch for three choices of how bright the light is and that really makes a difference. You might want a lower or brighter light depending on where you put your nightlight. I used this nightlight in the hallway and in the bathroom. I use it in the lowest setting in the hall and the medium setting in the bathroom. The hall was lit enough to see your see your way from all the bedrooms in my house to the bathroom (and see where the staircase is) and the medium setting had enough light to cover the entire bathroom without being obnoxious or waking you up too much. The highest setting would cover a large room or very long hallway- but the options are just so useful.The color options were also great. I first bought it in red because I read that red light does not interfere with your circadian rhythm and helps with your body's production of melatonin. In other words, if you have to get up to use the bathroom in the middle of the night, red light (or warmer hues like amber) won't disturb you from returning to sleep. I used to use the cooler light colors before I knew about this and, yeah, they woke me up too much going to the bathroom. Red/warm hues are easier to see by at night, while cooler hues (like green and blue) do require a bit more for your eyes to adjust.The only problem is that the red lights scared one of my kids. So I came back to buy the amber color. It's the best of both worlds- no scary color and it's still effective in continuing good sleep if my kids have to use the bathroom at night.I didn't give this 5 stars because I don't know how long these will last yet sibe I just bought them. I've had some last months, some last a couple years. I'll come back eventuality and comment on the longevity of the product.

These are fantastic! Work exactly as decribed. Strong glow, but I never feel 'awakened' by them.
