It has only an electromagnet (coil) which when activated pulls an armature which pulls contacts together, completing the circuit. Basically it is a switch. This is not transistorized

Where are these relays made?

Based on the price I assume they are made in china. They are high quality. I run them on my race car and haven't had a problem.

Will this relay work on a mercury force outboard 40hp 1998?

This is a universal 12v relay u will need to wire to it what ever you want to operate It's not a specific relay to you application
