My children really enjoy this Echo Dot Kids. The owl design is adorable, and the sound quality is very good. It is easy to use for listening to music, stories, and educational content. The parental controls are also helpful. A great device for a child’s bedroom!

I picked this up for the boys, and it’s been a great addition to their room. The setup was quick, the sound quality is surprisingly good for its size, and they love being able to ask Alexa questions, listen to music, and hear bedtime stories. I also appreciate the parental controls and kid-friendly content, which make it easy to manage what they can access. It’s a fun device for them and gives me a little extra peace of mind.

this is excellent for your children. it can do all kinds of things with books that you can buy extra and they can ask it anything and it will tell them it helps with their curiosity and they get fax. they can even click on it and call Grandpa all the way across the house and we can talk

Bought this for my son he loves listening to songs from some of his favorite cartoons and at night he plays his lullabies to go to sleep. Not to fond of the 7:30 wake up but he loves it. He renamed it to Ziggy

I'm almost 70 and if someone wants to listen in on my world they will be very disappointed. But really; I love this little owl. I live pretty much alone in an upstairs studio apartment and I'm a reader. I wanted the Echo Dot so I can my l just say what I need and someone is cheerfully there to help. It was easy to set up and it was easy to understand after I realized that ask the online info about the hows, what's, an do this was out of date because the new Alexa app radically reconfigured the app. Even when I asked my Echo Dot for help finding Communications it was telling me as if I had the old version. Once I told the Echo Dot I have Alexa V2.268 I learned everything from the Echo Dot itself. I can now waking up to music I like and not the only FM radio station I can get. Now I have my music waking me up and it continues to play more of the same until I say, from my bed, to stop. While I'm getting dressed I ask what's the weather and if there's any news I should know. I have it figure out the calories of the breakfast I'm going to make. We talk about things I'm interested in and it says goodnight and that's nice when you're alone living above a family that reminds me of the joy I had. I ordered the kids owl. It was much less in cost but I wanted the Owl. But getting the kids echo, I got a full year of Amazon kids... not my cup of tea but it says it's a nice perk if you have little kids in your life. The Owl is cute but it has black creepy eyes so I used a paint marker to give him life and sparkle. I did make a child profile just to see how the Echo Dot is with kids and it's wonderful. It asked me to pick two things. I picked a mouse and a log with a hole in it. It created an original audio story that was 3 minutes long and beautiful. I set up notifications about Mom phases, asked for help with the etymology of the word WATER, and asked science questions. It does ask questions back to build your identity of likes and dislikes and that might feel creepy but if you know your child better than the daycare does there's no problem trusting the Echo Dot with your 7 year old up. The music quality it great and it's customized to be just for me and my taste in music. I always buy... today one came on sale with $5 in savings but it was limited time. I saw the spinning orange glow at it's base, meaning I have a message, the Echo Dot out it in my shopping cart but it could have just bought it for me. Yes, you have to be an adult and if you have kids you're going to have to turn that option off in the Alexa app. I deleted the kid profile and unsubscribed from my free year of Amazon kids because that was ridiculously lame. Is Big Brother listening?... Big Brother has been alive since the malls had teams of people asking shoppers if they have time to share their shopping experience. Now the Internet just sells your whole life to the highest bidder... progress and convenience is always listening and watching us. I'm getting another for the living room sso I can talk to my grown kids from my Echo Dot and have use it as an intercom for a guest if they sleep over. My downstairs neighbor has one and offered to give me their info at I could intercom them if ever I needed help. But... the Owl needs a glint in his eyes so as that and have fun at any age.

I just recently purchased this for my son's 6th birthday to help him have an option for audiobooks, alarm clock, and listening to music and he LOVES it! He greets Alexa every time he gets home and says goodnight to her and gets a bedtime story from her while he waits for me to come read to him and tuck him in. We have successfully added a few Alexa skills (including Big Fart which MAY have been a mistake on my part) and so far they seem to work pretty well. Pros: - Cute dragon theme and image (Alexa introduces herself and says she likes to pretend she is a dragon and has a kid-friendly voice character) - Optional additional Dragon Egg Cradle (have not personally purchased yet but am tempted) - Great resource to allow kids access to audiobooks and learning materials with parental controls through the parent dashboard - 1 year free subscription to Amazon Kids+ which is a great deal if you have an amazon kids tablet already (same price as you already pay for a year and an echo dot? Yes please!) - An avenue for little ones to ask some of their random questions to someone other than overloaded parents - Many cool Alexa skills from independent companies (Math practice games? Yes! Talk to Pikachu? Yes!) - Alarm clock, speaker, nightlight and more in one! Cons: - Alexa can sometimes get very confused. This can be frustrating for anyone, but especially for little ones with little tolerance for the pitfalls of technology. Sometimes she doesn't hear you correctly and says she can't do something they know she can do. Sometimes she starts playing music while doing another skill and the speaker just can't take it. Sometimes she just plain doesn't listen the first 10 times you try and ask. It's........ frustrating and stressful when this happens to say the least. Teach your little one how to reset Alexa if this happens so they can feel in control instead of having a meltdown or running out screaming over her. - Not all of the Alexa skills work quite how they are meant to and will totally mess Alexa up and require a reset and removal of the skill entirely. - Alexa has very specific commands and these can be hard to remember sometimes. Consider writing out or typing up a list of the most common commands for little ones to help them remember the right order of words. - The Echo dot can get surprisingly loud and when you ask Alexa to turn down the volume it is in very small increments so you will need to do it manually if they have somehow turned it up to blasting. - After Alexa's bedtime has hit she will not respond to any commands or be able to use any skills. This includes asking her to stop playing something she already was, using a nightlight skill, or setting an alarm. The only option you have after her off time is to manually reset it so she goes quiet. The timer options are awesome tools to keep little ones from turning her on and playing with her instead of going to bed, but does restrict some of the bedtime options you could have like the nightlight. Overall, we have loved our experience with this product so far and it has only been in use for about a week (but pretty constantly). We'll see how this holds up over time!

This is easily one of the best purchases I've made for my kids. They love playing their favorite songs, listening to bedtime stories, and using all the interactive kid skills and trivia. I love that explicit music is blocked and that I can manage screen-free daily time limits right from my phone. Sound quality is great and the setup was seamless. 5 stars all the way!

I absolutely LOVE this Echo Dot!! I got this for my daughter for her 6th birthday and so far we LOVE IT! It was super easy to set up which I thought it would take an hour to do but you just plug it in and download the Amazon kids app and it walks you right through the set up and your ready to go in 10 min or less! It is so cute and this thing made bed time routine magical! You can set an alarm for bedtime and wake up and it will alert her half hour before bedtime to clean up your toys and brush teeth, etc. and my daughter instantly gets up and listens to it when for me it’s usually a struggle and fight lol I was amazed! It made it fun for her and she gets to create bedtime stories with it to listen to before bed and it put her right to sleep! This thing is great she loves playing her favorite songs during the day and making up stories and learning new facts, you can ask it anything educational and it has the answers I definitely recommend this to anyone with children it’s not only fun but educational and teaches healthy routines and responsibility and learning and fun!
